Sharing birthdays with famous folk

Something from MGB's sentiments on the famous folk they share their birthday with (from the cancerian thread) made me think:
a) if other's knew who they shared their birthday's with, famous type people, although if you want to big-up/slag off your twin who am I to stop you; and
b) how you feel about it.

Share mine with Mel Brooks. Which I'm pretty happy about.

My birthday (27 June fact fans) is shared by Tobey Maguire, Ross Perot and Joseph Smith of mormon founding fame. Can't say that any of those particularly enthuse me.

Dennis Nielsen.

Know how I found out this edifying fact?

A few years ago, 'twas the day before New Year's Eve, and I was feeling a bit down, so I took the book I was reading ("Killing For Company", by Brian Masters and about Dennis Nielsen- okay, I should probably have taken something a bit more uplifting) and went to the pub with my dog.

While in the pub, I not only learned that I shared a birthday with Mr Nielsen, but that on December 30th many years before, he'd been feeling a bit down so took his dog and went to the pub. Cue hideous murder story. Cue Stoatie going home in a panic, ringing up his mates and getting them all out for a cheering-up drink.

Whew! If only Dennis had done the same...

I've got -

Kevin Todd Smith
Erik Estrada
Bernardo Bertolucci
Jerry Lewis
Pat Nixon
Henny Youngman
and James Madison

Erik Estrada must be worth something right? I think I'll send him a card next March...

I just discovered via a quick google that besides a collection of people I've never heard of, I share a birthday with this under-achiever:

George Canning, British Prime Minister for four months during 1827. Following his resignation as foreign secretary in 1809, he fought a duel with the Secretary of War during which Canning was wounded in the thigh.

Oh my god I share my birthday with Eddie Furlong, my childhood crush, that's so cool! How did I not know that? Yikes and Mary-Louise Parker.

Also:
Peter O'Toole
Wes Craven
Huey Morgan
Rose Tremain
Hank Cochran

Yuk and Donna Air. Damnit.

Hmm. Apparently I share June 19 with such luminaries as Paula Abdul, Kathleen Turner, Phylicia Rashad (of Cosby Show fame), Salman Rushdie, Lou Gehrig, Guy Lombardo, Moe Howard (of Three Stooges fame) and Blaise Pascal. Some of those are cool, some are... a little disturbing.

But frankly, my favorite birthday-mate is Garfield. As in the cartoon cat. Apparently June 19 is the day he was officially syndicated, so Jim Davis considers that his birthday. And he celebrates it in the strip every year, generally getting rather depressed and then eating a lot. Which sounds a lot like my birthdays lately.

Christopher Lee and Vincent Price. And me. And if Peter Cushing had been born just one day later, we could all have been in one big crinkly goth birthday gang. Which would have been nice.

And Henry Kissinger. Ugh. No birthday cake for him.

Hoorah! Fiona Apple is *exactly* the same age as me! Roald Dahl was also born on the 13th of September.
ThinkExist very helpfully pointed out that both Dante and Tupac Shakur died on the 13th September. Woo!

I don't know who all has my birthday, but Hitler killed himself on April 30th. So hurray for my birthday!

I'm very happy to share June 3rd with Suzi Quatro (Leather Tuscadero!), Alain Resnais (Last Year at Marienbad!), Tony Curtis (loads of things!) and, when he was alive, Curtis Mayfield (Superfly!)

However, I am NOT happy to share it with Kelly Jones (Stereofuckingphonics!) and consider him my evil birthday twin.

George Bush Senior and Anne Frank. I find that slightly disturbing.

Jack Vincennes

Traci Lords, Tchaikovsky and Jane Campion.

...a mixed bag, to say the least.

16:28 / 15.07.04
I share my birthday with Kyle MacLachlan (tasty), Drew Barrymore (not quite as tasty, but still cute), George Washington (not tasty but historical, at least), and Ted Kennedy (the polar opposite of tasty but at least he's been irritating republicans a lot lately).

Given my love of Twin Peaks, the original, crappy Dune movie, and The Hidden, I'm quite pleased to share my birthday with David Lynch's pet actor. The rest I can take or leave.

Alex's Grandma
16:29 / 15.07.04
I'm not too sure about celebrities, but famous events that I share an anniversary with are the Manson killings and the bombing of Nagasaki. Can't help feeling I should be doing a bit more to live up to this really.

(November 15th)

Oddly enough, the newspaper horoscopes only ever list Ed Asner, Judge Wapner, and Erwin Rommel as sharing my birthday... BUT! I seem to also share the day with Pope Nicholas V, Pitt the Elder, Georgia O'Keeffe, and a member of ABBA!

...quite the odd bunch really...

...Custer, also, shares a birthday with this motley bunch of Sagittarians.

So, +4 for Heisenberg, Lang, Didion and Little Richard. -2 for Mozart and Monet, -2 for Disney and Thurmond.

I guess I'm even, unless Margaret Cho starts to annoy me. Or if I give Heisenberg and Fritz Lang some bonus points...

apparently, if you are one of twenty three people in a room, there is, statistically, an even chance you will share a birthday with one of them...

i share may 27 with wild bill hickok and henry kissinger! and they share it with christopher lee, vincent price and isadora duncan. dasheill hammett shares it too, with todd bridges and andre 3000 and slammin' sam snead!

what a party!

i have a friend who i annoy each october 21 by wishing samuel taylor coleridge and dizzy gillespie a happy birthday and neglecting hers. and she's still a friend... : )

Okay, deep breath ...

Alexander Graham Bell - ironic really, I hate talking on the phone.
Miranda Richardson - well chuffed, one of my favourite actors.
Fatima Whitbread - Colonel Gaddafi with a spear, go Fatima!
Tone Loc - well I can be a bit of an, ahem, Wild Thing myself sometimes! ... I'll get me coat.
Laura Harring - the one in Mulholland Drive who isn't Naomi Watts. Lucky old Naomi, that's what I say.
Dermot Morgan - the late, great Father Ted.
Tim Kazurinsky - the little guy in the Police Academy movies who always got picked on by the one who talked a bit like a cat. Yeah, you know him.
Frank Abagnale Jr - upon whom the film Catch Me If You Can was based. Well, I'd love Christopher Walken to be my dad if I didn't already have one.
George Miller - director of Mad Max and The Witches of Eastwick. Oh, and the one bit of Twilight Zone: The Movie that really scared the fuck out of me, you know on the plane?
Robert Shaye - producer of A Nightmare On Elm St and Lord Of The Rings, what a cinematic dude!
Lawrence Hauben - co-screenwriter of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, my second favourite film of all time.
James Doohan - like his engines, sometimes I just cannae take it.

Well most of those are really rather funky. Yep, it almost makes up for Ronan Fucking Keating.

I was born on exactly the same day as Kate Moss. Which should amuse the three of you that have ever seen me in the flesh. Let's just say that in the last month, four people have approached me at work and asked if I was the Comic Store Guy from the Simpsons.

Oh, yeah and it's the same date as Walt Disney, but I'm in denial about that.
