Tourism in Scotland gets piss poor reviews on BBC website.
We really do have some stunning countryside up here but I've got to agree with some of the comments on the BBC site- it is often expensive, locals are rarely welcoming, north of the central belt everything closes at 5pm (if you're lucky), the cities are pretty manky and the food is often dodgy.
But I too am guilty of a negative attitude to tourists- come the Edinburgh Festival I now avoid the centre of town. Ploughing through gaggles of gawping tourists when you've got an important appointment to attend is purgatory.
