hello

has anyone had any experience with franz bardon's system of occultism, primarily that outlined in "initiation into hermetics"? as it says on the back (yeah, i know) "no other writer has developed such a clear, concise, and practical progam of magical development". it does seem very bullshit free, compared to most nonchaos stuff i have looked at... and almost pretention, and preachiness free (apart from the "no other magician has ever revealed this!" foreword, but hey, maybe they hadn't by that time, it was the mid fifties...). i have heard it described as "psychic weightlifting" and it seems like a good place to start the actual business of magick, now my worldview has sufficiently altered and my self more together, without actually subscribing to a specific belief system/pantheon or whatever leaving me to find my own path in my own time(i know the chaote should be able to pick and choose when to suspend his/her disbelief when required, but i imagine when starting out its best to stick with one system for a while while the magickal feet are found...) anyways any thoughts are welcome, you crazy cats.

I haven't really engaged with the Franz Bardon stuff, but looking through the books, it all looks a bit nuts and slightly unnecessary. Having said that, if you're coming to magic new, it's as good a system as any to get a good solid grounding. Ultimately, it doesn't matter a damn which "system" you're approaching magic from, cos once you have it working for you, it's a simple equation of good magic/pissing about.

I can't read the word "chaote" without my mind deciphering it into the word "twat". What the fuck is a "chaote"?Horrible word....second only to "moot" in hideousness. Wanky terminology! Kill it all!

"Good magick" does impose a bit of integrity that maybe the term, "effective magick" may not have. Pardon me for being so uptight about it.
