So I'm from the Boston area, and I have this great photo from a couple of Halloweens back of me in costume next to Senator Kerry.

I'm so tempted to p-shop it a bit and post it on my blog with smart remarks about veep candidates, but in the back of my head there's this itchy doubt (fueled by paranoia and delusions of grandeur) that's worried about things like embarrassing the Kerry campaign if it leaks all over the 'net, "Kerry with Fangirl: Ha Ha, He Looks Very Daft", ruin the election etc., overblown hypothetical situations in my head.

Not sure what to do. Am I just overly paranoid? It's a great photo, though.

Unless he's actually drinking paint I really don't think it can make that much difference... there's no shortage of embarrassing pictures of George around on the net, and it doesn't seem to have done him much harm

It may help to combat the opinion, frequently reported in the press over here, that the guy is no fun. Or not, if he's standing there like a lemon and it's clear you're having all the fun, treating and tricking.

I think I'm letting media messages get to my head. "But that Disney movie told me that a single grain of rice tips the scale OH SWEET JEBUS it'll all be my fault!" In reality probably no one will see this but my friends and a few bloggers.

I'd say the most important thing is not to alter it _in any way_ if it's a good photo it'll stand on its own. If not, don't post it.
Mind you, I'd hate to be the hundredth monkey that gets Bush re-elected so I can see your worries. Just leave the old Potatoshop alone!

Cool, thanks for the advice, everyone! I feel a bit more relieved and agree that it'd only help to lighten up the campaign a bit if anything.

The only photoshopping I was planning to do was to add titles/captions and maybe increase the color saturation a bit - that's all.

I'll bust out the scanner this evening and get to work on that.

Ahh! It sounds weird but I thought the same thing when I scanned in the photo! Something about that big shit-eating grin looks like the Cosplayin' Emma panel in NXM 131.
