Pride Parade People (PICS)

A scattering of pics from this weekend's Gay Pride, in London. JAMM may wish to look away now.

Boooo, the piiigs! These are the gay & lesbian police, marching in uniform. The stocky guy in front seemed acutely aware of the camera.

This was the inevitable 'I've Got Two Moms' gay family float. I really liked the imagery of the big ol' bus (and the big ol' dyke in the foreground). It clouded over at this point, but didn't actually rain on our parade (not for long, anyway).

A bee-yoootiful kathoey (at least, I think she was kathoey). Bee-yoootifully dressed, too.

After the parade, we nipped into Soho to eat - and were sitting outside our favourite all-you-can-eat Italian, when a group of twenty-odd Brazilians descended on us, waiting for a table. This one was particularly spectacular.

Hmm, bit of a theme emerging... Drag queens always make the best Pride photos. Tres photogenic.

Awww. Back in Trafalgar Square for the various speeches, and I was pissed enough to ask these two to pose for a photo. Which they did, endearingly awkwardly. Still regret not having lingered, earlier, to shoot the narcissistic-but-lovely bike cop, posing for all he was worth.

(Apparently the cops really like policing Pride, because it's extremely well-behaved. And they get a lot of cat-calls.)

Some beardy bloke, Trafalgar Square.

Hmmm, what's in this room? Oooh my! Lovely pictures!

Ganesh, thank you for posting something that makes me smile today.

I can tell that you have at least one good eye.

I do indeedy.

It was a good day. Felt like the parade was bigger than usual; not sure why. Actually walked in it for the first time, having actually managed to get up in time (Brass Eyeesque: homosexuals can't get up early). Loads of people took our pictures (many of them excitable Japanese), since we were wearing kilts and walking hand-in-hand. I did have a kind of 'ooh, what if my patients see me' anxiety (as I usually do) but I suppose I was feeling a little more 'fuck 'em' pugnacious this time around. Which felt... empowering.

It was one of the best Prides ever. And that's even before we get to the excellent Gay Shame thing at Duckie, on the Saturday night...

Gay Shame is a sort of alternative to the Pink Pound co-opting of Pride, held each year by Amy Lame and those other stalwarts at Duckie. It's "the Annual Festival of Homosexual Misery", and it's faaabulous...

Mind you, I reckon it'd be improved with the addition of penis costumes and clit lollies. I'm surprised they haven't already thought of that, actually.

Call me one dimensional but the dude in the background of the dragqueen photo looks fucking hot!

Yes indeedy! Sadly, I was unable to do the Blade Runner super-refocus looking-round-corners thing on the photo, so couldn't get a better look at him.
