Kali in the UK for her birthday!!!! For real, mate!

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
22:06 / 01.07.04
So the old school Barbelither Kali will finally make her way to the UK on Nov. 15 to the end of said month. Will you be the nice 'un that takes her in? If so, let your intentions be known. She's somewhat well-traveled and still as surly as ever. Post your responses to this possible thread as here in the weird netherworld known as half-America, half-Japan, things are oddly fucked up. I will say, no one has to host me the entire two weeks. I can shift from home to home. So c'mon, Kali's one chance to love and visit you!!!

What's your itinerary?

Hi Kali - It been a while!

You are more than welcome to crash at my place (at the moment we only have a sofa to offer, but by november that could be upgraded to a sofabed...)

So, what else have you been up to? I take it you now have a passport...

I can offer something similar to sleaze with the same potential sofabed clause. Mine is south of the river though, so it's probably reserve list material.

I don't really have an itinerary yet. I'm playing it fast and loose.

Hi, sleaze!

Um, not a whole lot going on right now. I do have a passport and currently trying to plan what I should do. With what? The whole damned thing.

My net access is sporadic at the moment, but hopefully that will be remedied at the end of the month.

Again, I just need a place (or places to stay).

Will post more later.

In a momentary lapse of reason (har har), I will say this. I do miss the hell out of you guys. Even those of you who baited me during interesting discussions.

Grrr. So much to relate and so little time at the moment.

Fantastic. Can't offer a place to crash, but let us know about social plans nearer the time, and I'll swing by. On my rocket-scooter.

It's only fair I offer you a place, since you so kindly gave up your bed for me those oh-so-many-years ago.... (Does your cat still have a plastic bag fetish?)

'Sides, I kinda missed talking to you, girlie.

Well, it took the lovely Miss Kali to lure this old Thuggee out of hiding. Glad to hear that you are returning to "the Old Country." And hello to Sleaz and Anna (who crashed at my place back in June, 2000).

Kali: when are you coming to DC to see my partner and crime and I? Anytime free in August?

Later,

The Apostle Hadalis of the Church of Shaggy-Doo

Whoops. The dreaded typo demon is still haunting me.

That last line should have read "my partner IN crime and I."

However, "partner and crime and I" does sound intriguing.

wow - hadalis - they are all coming out of the woodwork now...

and i was just telling people about the St Francis of Assisi room in that place you were house sitting last night...

Ah, yes - ye old St. Francis Room (or, as the owner of the house liked to call it: "The Green Room.").

Sleaz, you old scoundrel - how have you been? Planning any more trips to the States with your feline other half (aka "The Artist Formerly Known as Macavity")?

Let's see, I was in divinity school in Dallas for 2000 - '02. And I've been in D.C. for the past two years...and about to celebrate a second anniversary with my lovely wife. We're off to the wild northern regions of Michigan tomorrow. I'll check back in early August.

Kali - the week of August 16 - 21 works if you wan to come visit.

And speaking of "out of the woodwork": Greetings to any other survivors of the "House of Hadalis" - October Ghost, Mononoke, Anna, Sleaz, Mattwan, Rampaging Luv Muffin and Django Skinwalker.

I really wouldn't mind coming to DC. The trick would be getting up there. Hadalis, let me see what I can pull out of my magic bag in regards to a mid-summer visit.

And just when Kali's life starts to get a bit stale, leave it to the universe to have a bit of a laugh at my (and my heart's) expense.

Miss K:

Thanks for the call last night and sorry I missed you. We'll try to work something out re: your potential visit. Looks like the later part of the week (c. August 18 - 22) may be better for me...mainly due to the work schedule and a contractor doing some renovation work on my home.

Now, since when did the universe EVER mess with your heart?

I thought you contained the universe in your stomach...or womb..or..? Or was that your relative, Vishnu? (never quite clear on my Hindu mythology).

I'll try to get in touch again in the next few days via phone.

I'm assuming you were going to drive...or is that not an option? Check out Independent Airlines or JetBlue as an alternative...I believe they have some very cheap tickets between DC/National and Atlanta.

That's all for now.

-H.

Yoiks! I was thinking just the other day (Monday) that a) it was time to bump this thread if it hadn't already been bumped and b) "I wonder how Hadalis is....?" This keeps happening to me lately, I'm starting to think the universe is stalking me...

stupid question number one: you got any plans to get outside London on your trip Kali. Perhaps come to the second city for a day-trip (that's Birmingham for all those wondering). If so give me a shout, be a honour to act as guide to you (and whoever else cares to venture north.

How long does the Megabus take going up that way (and the other)?

15:03 / 11.10.04
as far as I'm aware Anna the megabus takes about two and a half hours to get up to my dirty little town.

Virgin train thingies are a tad faster and the Chiltern line from Marylebone is slightly longer, but it's a nicer route and definitely nicer trains.

adamswish
15:03 / 11.10.04
oh and Chiltern is cheaper then Virgin

Never mind, thanks for the info, but the person I was planning to see came down to London last weekend anyway! :]

btw, Miss Kali, I am making a note that you are welcome (and, indeed, expected) any time between the 17th and when you leave. I'd say earlier than that, but I won't be there, so...

I'd suggest you find somewhere for the first week of your visit and come to mine for the last week of your visit (or five or six days or whatever). I may have another friend crashing at mine at the end of the month, but we have the space for you both so that should be okay. Okay?

Anna - the universe is ALWAYS stalking a lovely lady like yourself. And if it's not, then I can be hired to do so.

Mononoke - great to hear from you. I was convinced I had scared you and the October Ghost off with the North Carolina rain, the delayed pick-up at the airport and the atrocious barbecue at Pig Pickens Restuarant back in May 2000. Glad to see you've forgiven me. As for Ye Olde Country - when did you move there? I thought you had joined the yakuza in Japan.

But to answer your question, Tacy and I will be passing through the UK either next summer (June) or early fall (September) on our way to Lyon (our favorite culinary metropolis) and the monastery of Taize.

You know, I was reading some Barbelith posts four years ago...on a fated night like tonight, when Binky Bush and his Brain Rove were first up to their sleazy tricks...sigh. Memories.

Miss Kali - how are things with you and Mr. Firefly? You know who I'm talking about...and shame on you for not calling me in over six weeks. Dd you ever receive the books?

Heh. Mono and I were both comparing our crazy arrivals to your area, just on Friday. I think hers was actually worse.

Hadalis
23:07 / 06.11.04
Yes, her's consisted of:

(a) Being abandoned at the airport because we thought she was coming in on a differnt airline.
(b) Not enough drinking.
(c) Too much rain.
(d) Not enough dancing.
(e) Lack of good-looking men...ok, sorry Ghost.
(f) Too much barbecue...

But let's not dwell on the negative so much. I get enough of that living in D.C. these days.

Glad to hear you and Miss Mono are alive (I hope) and well (I surmise).

Anna - drop me a line at the hadalis email address (it's still the same). Let me know what's been happining to you over the past three years. Any relationship with Sequential Tart, for example? What's the new roomate situation? Last I heard, you and Rob/sleazenation lived in "Casa de Blanca" or something like that...

Walk in beauty,

Scott

I don't remember the other part of your email addy, sir. You can email me at the kookymojo/yahoo addy still, though

That was Casa Robrona (a contraction of the names of the three people living there) and it was almost two years ago that we moved out...

Aaaaanyway, to drag this back on topic, where is Kali? And what are her plans?
