OK,i understand that most of barbelith likes dave matthews and whatever. ok. i can accept it. but i know others dont like songs but like the cosmic eye. like reality shit upon and spat back.

DAVE MATTHEWS SUCKS IT.

no whitehouse (old) TG (discussed ad nauseaum). Fuck SOtOS (old and not worthy. this is about the youth.

Want the new wave.

Got the new black dice today. listened twice. then listened to black dice/ wolf eyes split. so good. only the vinyl. not new "bonus tracks". No acceptance of soulseek whatever mp3 trade. only interested in true followers of the flowered eye.

so more relevant than kraut rock ad boredom. i love it, but when it was happening was only into whatever other 3-5 year olds were into. ROCK IT.

There used to be a feeling when you would run into another freak where you used to look into anothers eyes and understood. Now its just some asshole being like, oh yeah, Masonna, saw them at the Pieta in cleveland, PRETTY COOL DUDE.

Get one with the OM, moody blues style bitch eyes. One GODDAMN BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLY SNEEZES.

Wolf Eyes is the most boring thing I ever heard. Is that noise?

Not heard them. Care to describe? Sounds like it might be my kind of shit (stuff that people describe as "boring noise" generally is!... sorry, jefe...) and I get paid this weekend, so record shopping may have to happen...

Wolf Eyes, to put it simply, Throbbing Gristle meets the Detroit noise of the Stooges. Add Black dice to that equation and you have one of the albums of the year. It's fuckin' skill.

Yeah, Wolf Eyes are totally fun, like seeing them live, they have this total rock energy which is really rare for noise bands. Fist pumping and head bobbing.

So anyways, WE and Black Dice have really sparked my interest in contermporary noise, was into the whole scene a while ago but got bored with the undercurrent of negativity (images of burn victims, etc.) and curious if there is anything else new I should check out.

Must be the season of the WWWWIIIIIIITTTTCCCCHHHHH....

I like all this stuff I guess, although I haven't actually heard much Black Dice or Wolf Eyes (despite having recently attended a festival where they both played).

You mention Oneida in the topic summery thingy - now THERE'S a band I can't say enough good things about.

Um, yes.

They can't really sound like that, surely? That would just be, like, too much man. C'mon now.

One rather good band I did see at ATP who were "noise" were Double Leopards. They dealt with big sheets of noise, ala Merzbow, but made live with pedals and analogue gadgets and microphones rather than on computer / with samples. They were also way, way more subtle and interesting, and less controntational, than the Merzbow type stuff. Some really eerie and exciting horror movie dronescape type action.. beautiful and frightening stuff.

Oh, and finally, I know stating it so plainly kinda ruins the gag, but: Nuns Number, you are surely aware that those threads about Dave Matthews etc. are jokes?

Sounds wicked. I'll have to track it down (TG meets the Stooges? As Rizla says... that's... too much, man.)

I quite like Black Dice, though I hated them when I wanted to dance like a twat all night and I couldn't, between Lightning Bolt and the Boredoms. They fail to live up to their pedigree (former member of Lightning Bolt, remixed by the Boredoms, toured with Godspeed!, split 7" with Errase Errata, are fun enough to like the Neptunes, have been on Tigerbeat6, labelmates with the Walkmen and Tracy and the Plastics, and Timbaland likes them. Who the fuck could live up to that?). I get the feeling their new one's gonna suck hard. I like my pleasent noise, not stupid random farting. Their new one looks like it's gonna be random farting.

Double Leopards seem interesting from what I've read elsewhere, and here just now. Got anything by them, Riz?

I quite like the new Black Dice actually, losing the drummer is the best thing they ever did. I prefer where they are heading to their Land of the Rising Noise Japan style of their earliest releases.

Bought a Double Leopards record, Halve Maen this weekend, digging it, but a bit more mellow then I had expected, but pretty cool.

While we're here, I want mellow drone. Tell me more places that will give it to me (that aren't on nerdy jazzwank vinyl)*.

I find Kawabata Makoto solo stuff is good for some really beautiful drone.

You might also want to investigate Arctica - "Drone on a Theme of Thomas Tallis". All the spelling could be wrong there, I recorded it off the radio and it's absolutely lovely.

As for Double Leopards, I don't know if they've done many 'proper' records, but they were selling CDRs of all their different live performances for £5 each. Could be worth checking out their website, assuming they have one..
