This is a place I visit on a fairly regular basis and have developed a great fondness for the place. After visiting it on Saturday I decided to post this thread, only to forget all about it. Yesterday I was talking to Bill Posters, generally catching up on things magical, and I remembered. Bill then told me to have a look in the gathering, so, you can see, this thread had to happen.

From what I can remember it is the site of an Anglo Saxon church, it was destroyed in the great fire and rebuilt by Wren. It was destroyed in WW2 and converted into gardens in the 70s. The tower houses an alternative healing center.

My first visit to the church was during a period when I was chasing round London looking at Wren's churches. To me it is linked with Blackbirds they can always be seen or at least heard and also due to a reading using the Druid Animal Oracle.
Researching wren lead to Hawksmoor to Barbelith and the Invisibles!
It is mostly a serene place, however I have experienced quite strong swirling energies filling the church. On returning a few weeks later this energy had increased in strength and had concentrated on the the circular area within the benches, this area had been taped off by red and white warning tape, I had the feeling that entering I'd been carried up in this whirlwind.
Generally I find it is a good place to start a derive as it sometimes provides a theme for the day in the form of magazines left, animals acting strangely etc.

Also meant to add I am keen to hear if anyone has had any interesting experiences, insights, knowledge etc. Unfortunately I will in Hertfordshire on Sunday and can't make the picnic. I'd be interested to know what happens. Have a good un!
