Just downloading some songs by Terrorvision, who I haven't listened to for years, and had only really listened to their first two albums. Just listening to "Tequila", which I didn't know before, and damn is it catchy! Just made me think how great catchy songs are. Tell me, what are the catchiest songs you know?

I dunno'--maybe it's only me, but I feel that "A Good Idea" by Sugar is a very catchy song. It's what hooked me on Bob Mould's stuff.

As well, "Saints" bt the Breeders is a catchy song that brightens the day.

Those are two that come off the top off my misshapen head.

I'd say that Bob Mould had "Debaser" stuck in his head when he wrote "A Good Idea".

I can't seem to stop humming 'Leave this town' by the Levellers...something about that asian-esque guitar riff and the fast beat just keeps it on repeat in my mental jukebox.

Adam Green - 'Friends of Mine'. Most of his songs are catchy but that one takes the biscuit.

Catchy songs? Oooh.

Stand by REM?
Insanity by Oceanic?
Girl from Mars by Ash?
Deanna by Nick Cave?

Electrical Storm Girl by Julian Cope. He's done loads of catchy songs but that's the one I know all the words to and sing whilst cleaning.

I can never get the Fall's cover of the Kinks' "Victoria" out of my head. What makes it catchier than the original is the way that MES's yowping voice staggers drunkenly all over the descending keyboard/bass part.

And I spent $30 on a compilation of Helen Love's first singles collection just so I could shudder at the Casiotone-Ramones goodness of "Formula One Racing Girls."

"Pigs that ran straightaway into the water, triumph of" by the Mountain Goats. There's something about that rhythm that just grabs me: da-na-DUH, da-na-DUH!
