Got this from one of the lists I'm on, and I'd be hugely pleased if California folks swamped the phones with yes! votes.

Make your voice heard in Sacramento! The Governator is asking you to express your opinion regarding Same Sex Marriage in California.

To make your voice heard

Call (916) 445-2841

On the phone tree, Press #5 for "Hot Issues."

Press #1 for Same Sex Marriage.

Press #1 to support "gay" marriage in California.

Please feel free to forward to friends.

I don't suppose this was originally broadcast on right-wig radio or the likes? It just... doesn't seem very likely that Arnie would be wanting to hear people raise their voices in support of gay marriage, so I can't help but imagine this as being something rather akin to the American Family Association's attempt to show their "unbiased representation of public opinion". Of course, even if that's the case, it would be nice if the same thing happened to it as to the AFA's lovely poll.

It's real as far as I can tell - I just called it, and the number is around on the net in relation to all sorts of other issues.

I doubt anyone takes a lot of notice of the results, though, given how easily these things are hijacked by advocacy groups.

Not quite sure if my vote was recorded considering my area code is certainly not Californian.

I doubt this will make much of a difference, but thanks for posting it. My vote is cast, may Eris have mercy on us all.

I have to admit, when the news broke that Gavin Newsom had started allowing gay marriage, my first thoughts were "I love this state."

Thanks for the haiku summary - I'm horribly ashamed that I didn't provide one, and really appreciate the extra bit of effort!
