Cafe Royal! It's just off Princes Street -kind of the pub behind the pub behind Burger King, but a lot better than that implies and easier to find as well. Serves real ale and ace food and has huge comfy seats if you get there early enough. I will also be in Scotland that weekend. All good!

I was going to say Cafe Royal too. A little steeply priced on the food/drink front, but it's reallyreally nice.

I have to admit, the Cafe Royal makes me think of besuited insurance people, but maybe it's changed - or it's different at the weekend?

Oh, I'm fine with anywhere. I've not been out on the town for a wee while so I've totally lost all knowledge of good pubs. At least Cafe Royal is easy to find, a plus for any Weegies who want to pop over.

I've only noticed Cafe Royal being particularly older / smarter at the weekends, but I like it because I used to go there for lunch when I was doing work in the library, so maybe I just didn't notice. (Also Nobody's Girl, I'm a student as well, and one of the scruffier ones...

)

As far as dates go, I'd rather it was the 26th, as I need to go home one the train and the last train on a Sunday is kind of early -but if anyone can only make it on the 27th it's still cool!

Well that was a great night, even though there were only three of us. Was great to meet Vincennes and as usual for barbmeets, too much beer was consumed and I'm now moping about the house eating instant noodles while Ariadne has demonstrated her iron constitution by cycling about the countryside.

Yes, ace night! -too much beer is right (so very right) too. This morning I was in a hungover enough state to be genuinely disturbed by a Harry Potter poster in the window of Blackwells, so I'm hoping it all gets better after that...
