Looking over the fact that Fowler is describing a situation in which quotation is not valuable - when the author is using them to show that he or she is learned or well read - rather than the several in which it is or may be justified, this doesn't seem to be about books, but rather a general query about Barbelith - or, if you are of a less charitable nature, a rather crap joke. I would suggest Policy, but I don't think this is particularly a matter of policy but rather style and taste. As such, I'm going to suggest we move it to the Conversation, where further quotes about quotation can be hilariously added, somebody can quote Monty Python, and I can once again mourn the absence on even the most fully-featured keyboard of a SHARK button. |
