Maoist/Feminist reviews of Hollywood fillums.
Oh, they SO want Tank Girl to be recognisably Communist, or at least lesbian. They slag off Spider-Man for fighting crime and helping people when he should be SMASHING THE SYSTEM and confronting our oligarchal oppressors!
They say the good guys in ID4 should have joined forces with the aliens to topple the Amerikkkan tyrant military-industrial complex! And the language is even more aggressively gender-neutral than Barbelith, with talk of "Humyns" and "Persyns".
Hmm, since when was Mao a feminist, anyways?

All I can say is this thread title made me laugh and giggle with delight.

I think I'm in love:

For this reviewer, the real heroes in "Moulin Rouge" are not the prattling "bohemian revolutionaries" like the idealist Christian. The real heroes never appear. They are the scientists, public health activists, and above all proletarian revolutionaries who helped drive down the death rate due to tuberculosis worldwide.

"Episode II" of "Star Wars" deserves to be a launching pad for more serious political discussion, not just political correctness on Jar Jar Binks.

all reviews must end like this

Yeah, they WOULD like the new Star Wars films, with all that thrilling boardroom action. Mandates! Envoys! Blockades! Red-hot blistering beaureucratic adventure! Man, Terrance Stamp should have just gone all ZOD on that Palpatine motherfucker. I defy you, Darth Sidious! Come and kneel before Zod! ZOD!

This is great. For some reason I'm imagining these being read out in the voice of Clare Fox.

And Groundhog Day as one long extended rape scene!?
Damn, I must admit, watching it myself, I completely missed the parallels to "I Spit on Your Grave".

Apparently Strictly Ballroom is devoid of revolutionary content. Haters.

However, Chronicles of Riddick refrains from depicting romantic sex at the expense of actually gender-oppressed people, and even raises the possibility of revolutionary asexuality, so it's not all bad news.

pointless and uncalled for

MIBII (Men In Black II) is witty and mentally challenging compared with most movies; the acting is good and overall MIBII is an expensive-to-produce-movie, a real work of art.

Consider the case duly rested.
