A salt lake city, ut zine is requesting submissions of any sort. text related - preferably short. graphic like - whatever. Send us your shit - ChiaroscuroZine@hotmail.com

Chances are you live nowhere near here, upon printing your shit we will send you a few copies.

If you'd like to design yer own page, that'd be cool.

CHIAROSCURO is usually about ten pages and has a print run between 150-200 copies.

I used to submit stories to you guys all the time! I thought you were dead in the water.

Is this it?

I'll look it over and consider submitting some "shit," but your superfluous use of vulgarity ("Send us your shit"), self-deprecation ("Shitty zine requesting any submissions!"), and lack of knowledge regarding grammar ("graphic like - whatever.") have dissuaded me thus far. Besides, the writing doesn't seem that good - more like goth posers and psudeo-intellectuals than actual writers.

Yeah, well, "internet fascists" like us would think something like that, wouldn't we. Cos we haven't wised up to the fact that, y'know, all that stuff like grammar, usage, clarity, precision--those are all bourgeois hang-ups, the oppressive tools that The Maaaaaaan uses to keep our heads in chains. Do you see?

(Confidential to King Mob: mayhap you're a little too cool for this room.)

a) in response to TeN's post: no, that's something else completely. we are print only. And while i'm certain my post wasn't thought out enough to avoid criticism , if you are going to attack me on the basis of bad grammer try checking your spelling first. Let he without error and all that shit.

b) i'm sure if anything it's the otherway around and i'm not cool enough for the room, but to explain myself... the "internet fascists" remark was not just about barbelith users, if it was i would have said "barbelith fascists" instead. And I wasn't saying anything about grammer, usage, etc. All areas that you mentioned i'll be first to admit that i am far from perfect in. the remark was in response to E. Randy Dupre's post: "Is there a good reason this couldn't have gone in here?" He could have easily said something along the lines of "Check out the thread already dedicated to this and related subjects" but instead he chose to give what i may have misconstrued as a rude reply. In these posts tone can almost never be picked up upon and we all make mistakes and i for one don't think out the wording of my posts enough so that it cannot be misconstrued, so if that's not how he meant it i understand and if i offended anybody, i'm sorry. the remark was both off the cuff and not meant to be taken completely seriously.

But i would like to commed "O Jack Fear, I Know You Of Old" on his excellent ranting, Maaaaaaan!!!

"no, that's something else completely. we are print only."

oh, well then sorry about the whole thing. I was only being an ass because I thought your zine sucked. can you give sort of a description though? I mean, if you expect people to submit, you should let them know what to submit.

www.chiaroscurozine.info

we have a website up now, hopefully this will ease the confusion - if we'd known about that horror webzine we probably would have picked a different name.

check out our site if you like a feel free to reply to this post with complaints of spamming (just trying to clarify an old post) or bad spelling/grammar ( can't say i find i necessary to proofread posts on bulletin boards) and just all around do whatever makes you feel better about yourself.

have a great day!

i just read my old post and I do sound like a big pompous ass. so I apologize for that once again. I might just consider submitting something, but could you please give me an idea of the stuff you're looking for?

Ironically, just this week, a few friends and myself made the decision to start up a zine ourselves... maybe when/if it's published, you could submit something, or we could swap zines, or something.

once again, sorry about the hostility... i don't know what the fuck i was thinking.

Yeah, i'd definitely be interested in trading zines with you.

What i'm looking for generally fits into two categories:

1) The Ultra-Weird, short fiction that's either off the wall humorous or just plain bizarre.

2) Personal confessions, write about the worst thing you've ever done - and with emotion. or when you lost your virginity, over-dosed, or about any event that happened to you that you feel strongly enough about that it would make for a good story.

Keep any submissions under 1500 words, that's how much we squeeze onto a page. Good luck with your zine!

....oh and Dada writing experiments are always fun too!

Having looked at the website I'm just wondering whether you want contributions in a purely text form or in the style of the zine ie. cut and paste mashness, if that makes any sense? Would definitely love to be involved, even if I'm going to be conservative and write about sitting around a fire in the woods, watching your past enfold you etc.

either way works for me, if you create your own page then obviously you'll be happier with how it looks AND it'll be less work for me. On the other hand i know it's much easier to e-mail a story than to send me your page. i'm happy to hear the website is helping get people interested, hopefully it won't be too much longer until all of the links work.

A few of you have sent me submissions, thanks!

i'm sorry it's taking me so long to get back to you...

Anyone semi-interested in Chiaroscuro and the collection of the first 12 issues should check out www.projectpulp.com where the collection is for sale. A table of contents, description, and excerpt are also on that site.
