Oh shit, that's terrible. Yeah, he was great.
On a purely musical level he was the only one worth listening to in the Voidoids and... I'm sure I've got something else he played on where he's really good, but I can't remember what it is.
And he also deserves respect of course for documenting hours and hours of Velvet Underground concerts on reel-to-reel tape when nobody else really gave a damn.
And he played in a band with Lester Bangs, I seem to remember.
And a heroin overdose! Jesus christ! What kind of 61 year old dies of a heroin overdose?? And, I mean, he's the one who looked like everybody's responsible, frowning dad back in the '70s anyway! Terrible, ugly shame. |
