Right, basically, I got a request yesterday to delete it, can't remember who sent it but they said the thread starter had asked for it to be deleted. I agreed to it, and sent a seperate mod request for it to be locked, as I'm now functionally paranoid about what could be going on in threads that we can't see on the board.
However, someone after me must have disagreed with the deleting of the thread, whilst someone else agreed to the locking of the thread. Baz Auckland asked this morning for the thread to be unlocked, which I disagreed with as the thread starter had started a new thread, though his abstract made reference to the previous thread being mysteriously locked, which either means he asked for it to be deleted and forgot, or whoever sent me the original deletion request was mistaken about the thread starter asking for it to be deleted.
As there was a new thread, I asked for the old, locked thread to be deleted.
So, should I stop worrying about what might or might not be going on in threads which people can't see on the board? I'm thinking that moderators should lock all threads that are going to get deleted so that people don't find them using the search option and get involved in shenanigans, if we deleted but didn't lock a thread for anti-semitic content, we wouldn't want people to continue posting to it as it could presumerably also be found by Google would we? |
