The Neurosis and Jarboe album is the ultimate collaborative work...I think there's actually a really simple formula to why the whole thing works so well. A simple formula that 'collaborative efforts' dont really take into account most of the time these days. Basically, it works well both as Neurosis material and as Jarboe material-and expands upon both via the combination...It's literally like listening to a perfect combination of Neuosis and Jarboe(or indeed Swans-you HAVE to love Swans) but as a completely different thing altogether..It really stands alone as a piece of work.Jarboe's perfromance throughout the whole album is just amazing.She goes from prayer-like stuff to really evil sounding stuff-which is great.
And about the sleeve art: I think the two bees over the same wound, is meant to signify the 'simple formula' i was talking about at the start.. |
