McSweeney's #13

Yotsuba & Benjamin!

Welp, I picked up my copy here in New York City. I haven't had enough time to really sit down and take it all in but my God it's probably the prettiest book I've ever seen. It's got gilded-ness all over it.

It's just friggin' good looking.

And it's got comics by everyone you'd expect.

More later, but I think Mr. Ware is now officially the best book designer on Earth.

#13 is out?

I've got a subscription, but it usually takes a while for them to get here. But I read the website every day... haven't seen any mention of the release. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough.

It does look very nice indeed.

How long does it take to get these things out in UK editions? If at all?

Well, Ware and Seth are coming over to the UK in June (they'll be at the ICA in London) so chances are they're will be some copies in the country by then...

Yep, the UK editions should be in shops in the first week of June.

Is anyone around here going to see that Ware/Seth talk? Gosh, I'd really love to try and make it to that - for Seth, mainly, who is the king.

I'm sure I read something about McSweenys being available at this weekends upcoming comic festival, in Bristol. Did I dream it? I want it.

Is this prose, or a compilation of comics, or what?

RadJose
17:57 / 25.05.04
both, more comics than prose, but there is some, i'll get a bit more in depth when i have time...

careful tho, readers: i took off the dust jacket in order to read the wonder and ended up covering my silk pyjamas with gold-dust - literally the gold paint from the inlays on the spine.

So beautiful...........

That's that magic dust that all good comics are covered with by the magic comic fairy...

That 'What were you doing last night?' Frank strip's amazing.

About thirteen, I think (staff discount, can't recall, and the barcode is a low-tack sticker... nice).
You may have a hard time finding it here, though as Penguin's big distribution screw-up has left it in short supply.

Eeees £16.99 - there are also 2 other little comics wedged in the dust-jacket, which folds out into a huge double-sided Chris Ware poster.

Eeees lovely.
