Okay, so I know this came out many (in fact getting on for five) years ago. BUT in all that time I haven't had a working record deck. Now I have, the first thing I dug out (having only listened to it once before losing my vinyl capability) was Alec Empire Vs Elvis Presley.

And it still rocks.

Fuck, does it rock.

From "Jailhouse Cock Rocks The Most" onwards, it's Empire at his noise-polluting best, all drill-n-bass and power electronics, over Elvis- timeless classics all. It's truly a meeting of musical greats, hampered only by the fact that one of them's dead.

Anyone else remember this? It's a fucking grade A classic, is what it is. One of the best things EITHER of them's ever done.

(Reminds me... must dig out and wash my Alec Empire- "Elvis is dead... that's the way it is" T-shirt. I feel like wearing it).

the grey album was pish, stoatie. i'm not surprised you find the cup of AWESOME that is empire Vs preley to be superior.

if you really want recontextualised jayz, black on black was better. metallica with rapping; basically the sound limp bizkit would have sold their souls to the devil to even understand, let alone play.

a DeeJay mate gave me an MD of this, and i used to listen to it on my way to work.

'houndog' is the bomb, and it occasionally gets played(or used to) at optimo, one of the better nights in glasgow.

last time i heard it out was about three or four years ago, while i was mashed like a potato and mixed in after frank sinatra and before 'i wanna be sedated'.

fucking awesome.

Yep, it's playing in my headphones right now... Jailhouse Cock Rocks the Most... ahhh the breakbeat has just come in... I've never been to a club cool enough to play this. And to think he made it all on an Atari.

The only time I've ever heard it played in a club, Empire was DJing himself.
