Tarot Reversals

How do you read reversed cards in the Tarot? I've been having a bit of a time with this lately. I mean, how do you invert an abstract concept? It seems there are many ways the matter can be approached.

Resistence by Querent to the Aspect.
Lack of that Aspect.
That Aspect turned against the Querent.
Unbalance or overemphesis on that Aspect.
That Aspect working in reverse.

I found two books on the subject. Anyone have experience with them?

Learning Tarot Reversals by Joan Bunning
The Complete Book of Tarot Reversals by Mary K. Greer, Barbara Moore

How do you handle reversed cards in a spread? What is your approach to them?

I've only recently started trying to use reversed cards in my readings.
As I understand it, it can mean either a delay or a resistance. I guess it depends on the reading, the card and what feels right at the time.

Annoyingly vague, I know...

Took me a while to get used to card reversals, it's like getting over the ooeeoo feeling that the "Tower" card can foster or anchor. Personal really, the opposite of it when not reversed. I've never thought of buying books to understand the theory behind it - it still clings onto a false sense of dualism. Mebbe someone should design lotsa pyramids to cast???? Like 3 side dice?!

The inverse of the Thoth trumps are generally considered to represent the Qliphoth, or "shells". They are the profanities cast off by Creation; the inversion of the pure ideal held by the Atu.

I stopped reading reversals long go, they just got too confusing. However, I plan to check out those titles you posted; maybe I can get a better understanding.

In pondering this, I've been considering an approach lately. In the G.D. Sepheroth/Element system for deriving the meanings of the minor arcana, rather than applying the element of the suit to the sphere of that number, removing that element and considering the meaning as that sphere missing that aspect. This seems to make some sense to me from a systemic perspective, so far.
