Just beeen reading an old interview with grant online and it mentions the zzzzenith.com story. Is this available on-line or on paper or both? Any reflections on this little ditty?

It was in one of the end of year progs, I think Prog 2001 going by memory.

It's an, erm, interesting tale that updates us on the cast of Zenith - those that survived Phase IV at least - but it's not that great to be honest. Steve Yeowell produced some typically good art but some elements of the script that were meant to be cynically cool but ended up just bleak and horrible spoiled it for me. Though the need to disguise Archie because of copyright problems lead to one decent joke.

That said Eddie MacPhail's appearance in the story is a minor highlight, pretty much like all his appearances throughout the original series. I've got a gorgeous Yeowell sketch of the surly Scots managerial bod somewhere. If I knew how to post images here I'd bung it up.

Have a look at the Barbelith Wiki, David. There's a link at the top of the page. Image posty fun ahoy.

Yeah, zzzzenith.com was a minor work, and probably best ignored. In short, Grant Morrison decides that Zenith isn't op and ironic enough, and so does a "day in the life" in which we discover that Acid Archie is a sexcase, Tony Blair is a mind-controlled puppet of Peter St John (OK, that's sweet), Chimaera has become a pop star.. it's not a massively interesting story, although the bit with the orphans and the rocket launcher is a giggle.

Thanks for the info. One to read when lurking at the back issues of my local comic emporium

Please could someone scan this and host it or mail it to me. I am a huge Zenith fan and it pains me that I've never seen this bonus material, however poor it is...there is a gap in my mythos and I would be very grateful if someone could help me plug it.

Thru the kindness of a stranger I've now read this as scans, and I would tend to agree. The art is often better than Phase IV -- Yeowell returning to Phase II quality black and white work -- but the story is a crash-and-burn job.

Despite the throwaway nature of the plot, though, I thought there were some great ideas in there, like the Task Force UK and Maximan exhibit at the Dome and Zenith recognising StJohn in the Saatchi "Demon Eyes" poster...and a stunning splash on the second page.
