I was informed that they're playing at one of the V festivals soon and they're on the bill under the stereophonics (bands don't get capital letters if they don't deserve them).
That's gonna be fucking hilarious.

Francis Black was guest programmer on Rage a few years ago, and I have never seen anybody turn the simple act of preparing a cup of tea into such an exercise in palpable menace as he did. He takes his tea black as the very pits of Hell, and crushes the soul out of half a lemon into it, after a very casual bisection with an enormous meat cleaver, not even glancing at the half that fell to the kitchen floor, one imagines a pile of half-lemons sitting there...

i saw them at coachella. they played all the hits, like "gigantic," "where is my mind," "velouria," "monkey gone to heaven," "bone machine," "broken face," and lots more that i can't remember. they were great. so many people get older an lose their touch, but not them! frank and kim's voices still sounded great, especially together, and they all looked really *happy*, which was sweet. they fucked up a tiny bit a couple times, but it was hard to tell except for the small looks they gave each other. i was going to see them here in chicago in november, my friend got tickets, but now that i'm moving to cali i won't be going. too bad; i'd love to see them again, and at a smaller venue. (even though at coachella, considering there were about 60,000 people there, i was pretty close to the stage.)

Just saw them tonight in Brixton and... yes, they were rather good! A pretty great way to spend my birthday...

30-odd songs, most of Doolittle and 3 encores. Personal highlights: Levitate Me, Vamos (Joey S and his amazing noise-conjouring guitar), U-Mass, Nimrod's Son (played slooooow, then fast), both versions of Wave of Mutilation, No. 13 Baby and Into The White - because there's nothing like a big rock-out with smoke and bright lights to end a gig. Not the greatest sound quality ever, but hey, it was the Pixies!!!

Ah, how I laughed smugly to myself at the people on the tube back who had been to see Paul Weller. The twats.

3 encores?!?! Damn it. They cut the Wednesday gig short (may have been due to too much crowd surfing).

I shouldn't really complain. Who supported?

Support was David Lovering doing his 'science magic'. I missed the start and was too far back to hear exactly what he was saying (bad acoustics in that place, I tells ya) but it looked like fun.

The encores (if I remember correctly) were:
1) U-Mass, Wave of Mutilation
2) No. 13 Baby, Caribou
3) Cactus, Into the White

Downloading my NetBurn copy of the gig right now, so will be more authoratative shortly...

I get to see them in November here in Detroit. The only catch is, the girl I'm dating is holding my ticket hostage to ensure that I go with her. Am I willing to date somebody for five months just to see the pixies? Hell yes I am.
