Video card advice

ONLY NICE THINGS

Hey pilgrims.

Recently, I've bene much possessed by the desire to buy a new PC. In fact, it has reached the point where I am checking websites every day to see what is new and shiny. However, I am also aware a) that the longer one lingers with computers, the more one gets for your buck, b) at some point my unwarrantied laptop may need replacing and c) that my PC is fine, and I am just getting consumption desire.

So.... I have decided to delay the issue by pondering the purchase of a low-end video card. This will keep me amused for ages, and it will give my aging but lovable PC (2GB Celeron processor, 512MB RAM) a bit more oomph, not enough for anything shiny and cutting-edge, but comfy.

So, given that the only function of this car is to fight a holding action until I feel the need for pointless expenditure, what do people recommend? I'm pondering the GeForce 5200, on the grounds that it's the lowest-end card that is comfortable with DirectX 9, AFAIK, and also because Morgan has them going cheapish... how would you buy behind the curve?
