Conspiracy Theory

Conspiracy Theory and other alternative history... I feel that it worth discussing but I don't know where on the board it should be discussed. I have seen at least three threads of this nature appear in the "Temple" and I was wondering if that is where they should go.

Alternatively they could go to the headshop particularly acts of feminist or black reversionary history.

What do you think barbelith?

I think you've got it; if its a conspiracy theory based around magic, magical orders, the templars and so on, the Temple seems appropriate. If to do with identity politics, the Head Shop, otherwise.... the Switchboard? As I think raelianautopsy said, if the temple is for the occult them it umbrellas a lot of secret society gubbins...

The Temple section or the Switchboard section depending on the specific context seems fine. The Temple has its share, and wasnt' there a 911 conspiracy thread in the Switchboard?

It doesn't seem necessary to make another section or anything.

There might be a bit of an issue with cross-disciplinary threads, like a 9-11 conspiracy theory with occult elements, but classification of mixed threads has always been an issue on Barbelith, so I don't think CT threads need any special instructions on that basis. They can just get punted around as necessary.

Yeah, CT covers a multitude of sins, and at times there aren't any hard'n'fast boundaries between fora- for example, a discussion of Alternative 3 could go... well, it could go in Film/TV, (having sprung from a hoax documentary- which had an Eno soundtrack, discussion of which would go best in Music), books (having accounted for a fair few of them in its time, all written to varying degrees of quality), Switchboard (if it could be seen to impact on current affairs), Laboratory (if one were discussing the plausibility of some of its elements) or indeed in Conversation, if people wanted to say "bum" a lot.

Case-by-case, I think.

Okay that clarifies my thinking on this totally. Thanks Barbelith.
