Actually, I spoke to one of my best friends from college last night for the first time in two years, who informed me that within five years he wants to sell his business and move back to Chicago to attend the rabbinical seminary. This was a guy who when I met him almost 10 years ago was just as secular a Jew as me, if not more so, then had an intense religious experience on mushrooms and now is devoutly Orthodox. Check back in with me in another 10 years and I'll probably be friends with an Orthodox rabbi. Such are the accidents of life.
