I'm quickly realizing that it all boils down to budget. Look at a show like Charmed or King Of The Hill, all of whom most likely have about the same audience as something likie Angel or Samurai Jack. On a network like CN, also, ratings mean next to nothing. It's like, hm, as opposed to our hottest show, which got a fifth of 1% of the entire national tv audience, this show only got an eighth. Big deal. The real problem is that, obviously, Samurai Jack is an expensive show to produce and, since it doesn't break into 11 Minute segments like Spongebob it can't be sold to foreign markets. Thus cutting off another potential source of revenue. The same thing happened to Invader Zim. Ratings really seem pretty irrelavent to me when it comes to boutique networks. It's all about the budget. |
