Marvel actually addressed the Juggs/Blob question once. They basically said that the Juggernauts unstoppability (which is magic-based) trumps the Blob's mutation.

I don't know most of the Charlton Comics in the original, but if it was The Question vs Rorschach, Rorschach would crucify his opponent -- based on the O'Neill relaunch I've read anyway, Vic Sage is far more upright, moralistic and unimaginative. Rorschach is no-holds-barred badass.

They have a bake-off.

Death makes a delicious chocolate cake with soul (heh heh heh). Mr. Immortal burns his cookie and gets angry. He subsequently yanks off one of Death's legs and demolishes Death's cake with it. Death grabs his chocolate-frosting-covered femur and mopes home, crying all the way. Victory to Mr. Immortal.

I agree that Rorschach would win that particular fight, but I recon Blue Beetle would take Nite Owl, with or without the gut and heart problem.

Zenith vs Vertex: I could see going either way.

1. Vertex would fight fairly and decently, not wanting to really hurt his counterpart -- Zenith would play dirty, just wanting the conflict over so he could go back to drinking Babycham out of Sam Fox's cleavage.

2. Vertex takes being a superhero seriously and as a yuppie version of Zenith probably has a personal trainer, and has diligently studied martial arts. Zenith's fighting is loose and unstructured. He has no technique, only his unnatural strength -- which would be cancelled out by Vertex's identical powers.

3. Vertex drinks Perrier; Zenith is likely to be drunk or hungover.

Final scores: I think Vertex with a quick submission and "I don't want to hurt you." Zenith: "Oh no. That hurts. That hurts."

Big splash page of a new creature plinking in from another dimension: "Oh yes!" Other character quotes Wm Blake. "Let's kill them all."

there's also the possibilty that vertex would take a dive so has not to hurt zenith's feelings. But Zenith's fighting to date isn't great, one or two sucker punches in book one - book two implied that he had gotten better and also showed a ruthless streak - book three reverted to lazy couldn't care less - book four was all in their minds and a pyramid or something - I recon book two zenith would win, but the others would be crap.

I think Constantine could beat Superman, actually -- it's always stressed that Supes' only weaknesses are kyptonite AND MAGIC.

However, my money would be on Luthor. He's an incredibly quick thinker who would enter the battle with all eventualities prepared for (pseudo-science anti-magic particle generators and so on) whereas Constantine is actually something of a loser. Luthor is determined to win: Constantine is prepared to fail. Constantine is too self-pitying and not in physically great shape. He panics and lets himself lose focus too easily.

I'm thinking here of the Luthor in Moore's Swamp Thing vs Luthor episode, and the Constantine from the first issues of Hellblazer.
