Westminster Council Settle With Dame Shirley Porter- Was it Sensible to Quit or Should They Have Kept Going?

Dame Shirley agrees £12.3m deal.

OK, it's not like I'm going to lie awake sobbing at the injustice and she is an evil Tory bitch which prejudices me against her. What do people think? Was Westminster right to settle, albeit for a piddling amount that probably doesn't even cover the costs, or should they have stayed the course and gone on, risking never getting a penny?

Maybe they should have tricked her into the country with the promise of a settlement? Seriously though, she deserves to be fucked over for it. its one thing to be a bent politician, but buying votes is about the most undemocratic thing ever. Bar killing for votes, obviously.

Well, I've just seen some council spokesman on the BBC and he said that our Shirl had been very successful in divesting herself of all her assets, if Westminster wanted to continue their fight they faced paying a lot of money in courts all over the world to attempt to prove that assets belonged to her, which she had the money to continue indefinitely. This wasn't an ideal situation but it was some money against a good chance of no money.

The current top banana at Westminster, Simon Milton, was Porter's golden-boy back in the 80s at the start of his political career. She took a special interest in him, showed him the ropes, appointed him to commitees, blah-blah-blah. I wonder how friendly they remain? I would imagine he was the ultimate rubber-stamper in this case. Porter was/is worth way more than £12m. She's built a university in Israel that cost her more than that. £12m is loose change.

I don't know. Porter is a very wealthy person who managed to hide her assests to a frighteningly effective degree. While this move at least ensures Westminster council gets some money it was owed, I am spiteful enough to think that hounding her and inconveniencing her by forcing her to hide her assets for the rest of her natural life is somewhat necessary.

maybe they should send a bunch of australian mercenaries and criminals after her?

On a lighter note, when I first saw the title of flowers link I did kind of hope Dame Shirl was the new transer signing for Chelsea...
