In point of fact, the Texan 'tude has jack-all to do with the Civil War; it's all about the fact that we used to be an entirely separate country. That's why we're allowed to fly the state flag on the same level as the Stars-&-Stipes, unlike the rest of the states. And frankly, that reflects the feelings of a lot of Texans - their regard for the state is on the same, or higher, level than for the nation. Ignoring, for the moment, the fact that our current Moron-In-Chief is from here, which is admittedly embarrassing.
