so i just moved back to connecticut and have been kind of going on a preppie clothing jag in a spirit i would characterize as more 'playfully exuberant' (perhaps psychotically so) than 'ironic'. pink ties with pale green button-down shirts, sperry-topsiders, all things brooks brothers, you get the picture.
anyway, i want to get a summer suit that can work with this general feeling, and i'm considering this seersucker suit from brooks brothers: http://www.brooksbrothers.com/images/catalog/productimages/enlarged/546k_enlarged.jpg
however, i have reservations. i love the suit, bt would like some outside opinions. that's where you come in. questions:
is this suit too archaic? i want something eye-catching/sharp, but not something that leaves the viewer with the impression that the wearer is using it as some sort of retro-prop to actively draw attention.
is this suit too southern? this question may only be applicable to americans, but all opinions are welcome. all of my use of it would be in new england. would you view this suit as a freakish anomoly, or a charming anomoly?
shoes, specifically: those white suede bucks with the salmon-y foam sole. is this overkill? if so, can you suggest any shoes that might work.
am i too young for this suit? i'm thin, 24, white, and 5'7". does this suit demand more presence than my years afford me?
any opinions welcome... thanks.
p.s. sorry about not putting this is the established fashion advice thread, i just wanted attention. feel free to consolidate me into that if needed. |
