Filth and things it can do to your brain

Now that the Filth is being TP'd it is a good time to throw this out there. A while ago I sat down and read the whole series, about half one day and half the next, and both times it REALLY altered my consciousness at the time. Sure I had puffed a weee bit of smoke, but I often do that while intensely re-reading a series (Stray Bullets first fifteen or so issues is a hoot when in this state of mind). But the Filth brought me into a really strange place in my head, so much so that it is not my intention here to try and describe and thus de-personalize it, I just want to a) know if anyone out there had similar experiences and b) to suggest people to be open to anything that may be 'encoded' within it by reading it in large or whole chunks.
Cheers

I have to agree with you about certian comics changing a person during the time you read them . Neville Barker I too just yesterday got high and read the first nine issues of AnimalMan and each one especially fucks me up in a way I can't even decribe. The issue with the Thanagarian warriors was deep in ways other writers wouldn't bother to think of . You always get a microscopic glance at everyone in a grant morrison book, even those you know know nothing about like villans. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about or am I a dunce.

I haven't experienced it with the Filth but I had a really weird feeling when I read the first twenty-five issues of Invisibles after issue 25 had just come out. Don't remember it too clearly now but I felt as though if my mind were a stagnant pond that Grant had emptied it out and filled it with fresh sparkling water, which I was greatful for.

You must empty your cup so that it may be filled.

I had that same sort of reaction when reading The Invisibles for the first time, especially Lord Fanny's background/initiation in "Apocaliptick". Also, JLA "Rock of Ages" has a definite consciousness-altering vibe to it, as does Animal Man and Doom Patrol.

I read THE FILTH completely sober and it indeed felt strange, apart from the storyline itself. there's a overlaying of depressive symbology in strange rythm that helps a bit in changing the perception. it's a memebomb experience.

I love that I'm not the only one that has this kind of reaction. I love the fact that Grant's work will make me want to try and wrap my head around it all.
Also, trying to create something in the same vain is amazingly hard, but so much fun at the same time.
