Does anyone know any ifo on the Maccabee's Bible and the involvement with it in magick? I'm searching right now for some info and it's hard to come by.

Have you referenced one of the old Kaos Magick Journals that you can pick up from the American IOT?

I presume it shares memes with Rastafarianism and the Coptic Church. I'm sure alot of the African spirit folk religions websites should have stuff on it.

Oddly, a Google search for "Maccabee's Bible" turns up this thread on top, followed by references to the Book of Maccabees, which I'm guessing isn't the same thing (since it's part of the Catholic Bible/Protestant apocrypha).

Although -- yeah, removing the apostrophe yields this, which is also linked to at the House of Nubian website.

It appears to be a collection of 1 & 2 Maccabees as well as Psalm 151.

You can find the text of them online here, as part of the New American Bible. I got a copy of that for religion classes in Catholic school -- each book starts with a pretty good introduction, and there are footnotes throughout.

This seems to be like, what, the AME rediscovering Catholicism?

Use in magick? I dunno, but it's where the Hannukah story comes from.....

Ah, here's the table of contents for The Maccabees Bible (along with an excerpt) -- the book has 3&4 Maccabees as well as 1&2.

Those two books (3&4 Macc) are considered apocrypha by Protestants and Catholics alike, but are canon in the Ethiopian church. They have a very big bible.

You can find them online as part of this Septuagint Bible -- in other words, they're included in some Eastern Orthodox denominations as well.

thank you all for the info i truly appreciate it, i'm still searchin myself and i found that in jamaica and i think a few other places the book itself is forbidden if you are found with it you can do some serious time. my uncle aslo told me that the maccabees bible was separate from the original one and and the cover was made of human flesh and words written in human blood. my mothers side is from jamaica and they are in it heavy over there they call magick obeah over there.
