this is just for anything having to do with the band The Kills, for instance: what happened to them? there's no update on their site and like what are they on hiatus or something?

I listened to the Kills album again just the other night. It is fucking good, it must be said.

As to "what happened to them", c'mon, it's only a few months since their record came out.. they're probably, I dunno, touring somewhere or developing new material or taking drugs or whatever else it is cool bands do between releasing records.. and they don't exactly look like the kind of people who'd be too bothered about updating their website very often..

indeed,

yeah I know I am impatient, its just that they are one of the very first bands that I've seen live and it was a amazing show and I think that they're one of the best bands in the world right now and you know and I wanna see them again. Got my picture taken with Hotel, its awesome. oh yeah and I thank saveloy so much for recommending them to me.

They're supporting labelmates Franz Ferdinand on two dates in Ireland in October (12th/13th in Dublin). I suspect they'll be supporting FF on the rest of that tour, too...

Odd fact: The girl from the Kills was in a well-regarded melodic punk/emo kinda band called Discount. They weren't too shabby at all. They seem to hide this fact like it was a Klan robe in their closet, though. Weird. I've read so many interviews with them that say "the band I was in at the time...", but never once does it mention Discount by name.

yeah, I've heard Discount, it was Alison Mosshart's first band, that she started with some other kids while she they were still in like junior highschool and they even did gigs too, in florida I think it was. and they sound nothing like The Kills, they're pop punk.

she's probably like reticent to mention them, because she's maybe embarrassed by them? kind of like how you might be with some of the first albums you bought. but I regret nothing, the soundtrack to The Lion King just gets better and better after every play....and..I stand by that.

I kinda thought they didn't want to look like they hopped right from the emo bandwagon to the new-rock bandwagon, or something.

Saw the Kills support Franz Ferdinand last night. They were very cool. One guitar and a drum machine. And matching satin jackets. Pretty short set; they did Pull A U, Cat Claw, Black Rooster, Fried My Little Brains, and about four or five newies, which sounded good. I, for one, am looking forward to the next album.

She talked about Discount (crap name!) in the Careless Talk.. interview - boasting that she'd been touring in bands since she was 14 or something..

Also, in case anyone cares, the bloke in The Kills used to be in Scarfo (good name!), who were around in the mid-90s and were pretty good. They did some Peel sessions and stuff..

I care Rizla! I wondered what Jamie Hince aka Hotel had done before The Kills, hadn't ever heard anything about his other work. he totally has a lou reed semblance going on.

I love those little sound clips they do between songs "tell me...tell me do you like that....I like it I think...I think I like it very much...I think I like to chew gum very much...." and she goes on haha. the first time I heard it was at that one show I saw them at, and it creeped the fuck out of me. it was so creepy that it was cool.

very, very ecstatic that they're on the road again.

The VV & Hotel song "Restaurant Blouse" on the If The Twenty-First Century Didn't Exist, It Would Be Necessary to Invent It comp is my favorite Kills song. Check it out.

The new album, No Wow, has some utterly fantastic stuff on it - 'Love Is A Deserter', 'Sweet Cloud', 'Ticket Man' and 'At The Back Of The Shell' being highlights. It's very scuzzy, in places kinda bluesy, other places there's an electro fuzz creeping in... It's what the last PJ Harvey album should have sounded like. It also reminds me of Sticky Fingers. Anyone else got it?

Yup - I got No Wow. It's good. Their sound is a bit fuller and richer, and less lo-fi, than Keep On Your Mean Side. I like it.

Listened to the Album, The first track is really amazing, but the rest isn't anything special.

Hnh. ADD.

The second side of the album is probably the richer one, on balance.

Watching the documentary that comes with the album, you really get the sense that the line diving their music and their lives is very thin and blurry - that may be an illusion, but it's quite a fascinating one. It can't be a healthy lifestyle, after all: rock'n'roll stripped down to its basics. Do they ever eat, or do they just live off cigarettes, intoxicants and old blues records?
