Hello Ella...welcome. Don't worry about wiping your feet, we burn the carpet every Thursday, when we're not too busy lighting cigars with fivers. Your day to water the communal fern is the 17th of August, 2005. Please remember to return the key to the hook, and watch out for a couple of the steps in the back stairwell...they're a bit iffy.

Ohhh, TMO, I remember that place. Didn't their board spin off from the old seethru one when it shut down? Or something like that.

Goddammit, I never wanted to see that joke again, mantis. You know who's gonna get candled now? You are. You.

Ella mentry
19:54 / 16.04.04
I would rather not be candled thanks, is that some form of 'welcome' thing then?

Hey, that other forum's nae bad. So long, losers!

Grey Area
20:04 / 16.04.04
*sigh*...it's something some people would like to see as a welcoming thing. Others see it as a silly in-joke, much like the joycore thing. It's safe to ignore, mainly because there's no evidence of any newbie ever having been candled. However, you ignore the joycore thing at your own peril...

No, its not some kind of welcoming. Its some kind of pseudo-mystical initiation/indoctrination ritual which was acient before the dawn of time. I would explain more but its a ritual encloaked in a secrecy most foul. (actually I find it hard to explain when laughing so hard!) And afterwards we serve pie!

Welcome.

Ass/arse-candling is nonsense, ignore them, they don't know where you live anyway. Hi. I'm reading your thread on the board you referenced above and posting here at the same time, and it feels very, very odd. But hiya, welcome, huggles.

Just don't ask what joycore is. Or borecore. It's just... better not to. I have virtually no idea myself. (Hides from impending joycore fury.)

Yes, the countdown to someone bursting in here and yelling joycore! has indeed begun.

...I'll go get the bladder on a stick.

you are posting on TMO or just lurking?

hello Kovacs...I think this board has potential, potential for me to enjoy and add my wit and inane boring threads to.

I also don't think it's anything like handbag..as someone on TMO said.

So is this board made in the UK?

Yes, this board is indeed made with pride in the United Kingdom. Although contributors hail from various nations, including America, Brazil, Norway and Australia. There's some who seem to shift location a bit...I don't think von Kobra knows where he is at any given moment, never mind where he's from.

Grey Area, I'm going to need that bladder later. To keep my urine.

Hello Ella and Kovacs. Can I just say how much I enjoyed that thread? The creeping broken-window conversion.

"It looks a bit pretentious, and they aren't all robust like us."

"Yes, but it is well designed."

"And this is a good thread on Grant Morrison."

"I'm leaving now. BYE BYE."

On the cultural exchange - what will happen is essentially that Ganesh will turn up on your board. He will make a *lot* of knob gags. Everyone will like him. Ganesh is kind of our goodwill ambassador to other boards.

We cannot be held responsible for anything Kovacs may or may not say, unless, of course, he thrills you all with his knowledge of comics, fandom, cultural studies and Alice in Wonderland, in which case we claim all credit. I too would like to know about quoting and stuff. I like the fact that you call an online persona a 'fiction suit'.

Hey hey new people.

If it's text formatting instructions you're after, you can get them in this thread or through the link to the Wiki at the very top of the page. I figure I owe you that much seeing as you've managed to get rid of Bizunth for me.

One down, four thousand, six hundred and seventy-seven to go.

I am finding this place quite warm.

Kovacs have you flounced for good? gosh I may well see snigger-smythe coming over to merge TMO,The Cuban Lounge and Hand bag with Barbelith.

BLONDE ALERT

what is/does barbelith mean?

London

"The origins of our name are less interesting than the possible etymologies that might explain it. Choose the meaning that resonates for you most - will you wish it to refer to the satellite behind the moon that connects you with the Godhead, the "bearded" or "alien" stone? Or perhaps you will find more resonance with "Boibeloth," (or "Boibel Loth") the Celtish language of the trees. My personal favourite is our connection with the Barbelite cult of early Christian Gnosticism (sometimes called the Barbelognostics) who worshipped a mother goddess called Barbelo, fought against the horrific YHWH (or Yaldabaoth the Vile) who imprisoned them within the material world and believed that orgiastic practices and the consumption of semen and menses would allow them to break the cycle of resurrection and rebirth and allow them to reunite with the divine... Ooh, I like the look of TMO...

It's all in the Barbelith Wiki, Ella mentry, linked at the top of the page.

Right, I'm off to have more of a nose around yours, if that's okay.

smoothly weaving...you may nose around but be aware and afraid and watch out...some of them bite so they do.

When I first joined I was stamped upon for posting inane threads and strike me down, a few typo's, now I fit in just like a piece of jigsaw...lollollol.

You could also check out the others but TMO is the best, even though they all hate my fcuking guts.
