Ok. So I've had one Barbmeet. No complaints, t'was quite, quite nice.

But im sure we canuckleheads can get together someplace/sometime to have a friggin meet. Are there soo few of us that we are lost to the sands of time? Surely some of us must put a joyous yawp to the raising of the ol' maple leaf? (Alright, I admit it, I'm tired of all these across the ponders and theirs talks of Barbemeets of glory). Dammit all folks let us gets together and toast the old Great White North!

ooh, I've done a small canadian barbemeet, in toronto

I stayed with my friend potus, had tapas and club searching with betty woo, captain zoom and his wife, and did the walking tour round with moriarty!

it was wonderful. unfortunately, I couldn't afford to make it back up this year. maybe next year? I'd be willing to meet up with all of the canadian folks

Hey, I was just thinking about this...
But where? You live in Montreal, keg, which is a frozen wasteland not unlike Niffleheim. Or Ottawa.
hey! Ottawa! It's like a halfway point (or house) for the Quebecois and we filthy Ontarians. Ontarioids. Ontarios.

...and Moriarty's in Ottawa... is it a fun place really?

Would it be more fun to either a)hit Montreal or b)help fund Keggers and May Tricks's bus tickets down here....

Ummm... I could do with a weekend in Montreal this summer... how about the rest of you?

fluid_state
22:46 / 16.04.04
I'm up for either option, really. A weekend in pretty old Montreal would be good, though. Never been there in summer. I have a car, which is a plus, and it probably won't break down on the way there. I do love my city, though, and would be happy to have the Canucks play here.

Shorter post: whatever. I'm easy.

Well I'm in for wherever. Lets hook this shit up. For Real.

Are you in Kingston?

When's everyone free for this? A weekend in May? Perhaps the long one near the end?

jadejanelle
04:28 / 22.04.04
I'm in Kingston for about one more day or so. Can we plan this for later than the end of may? I'm planting trees up north until the second week in June or so.

Ok, so how come when I arrange a Barbe-meet in Montreal only two people come?

moriarty

While Ottawa would be more convenient for me, it's also incredibly dull, so forget it. Montreal is where it's at. I shouldn't have a problem attending any Barbemeet on the May long weekend or any weekend after that, with the exception of when I move at the end of June.

Baz Auckland

Umm... how's June look? It looks like I'll um... be in Mexico for the last two weeks of May...

St.Jean Baptiste Day party?

Can someone other than me be decisive and figure this shit out?

Thanks.

Just noticed this topic...

I'm based in Montreal, and I missed the last Barbemeet. Anyone still interested?

Hello?

June! ..or July!

Whatever's best for solid_state and keggers I guess...

Oooh.. Montreal is sounding very nice...

June or July sound good to me.

St. Jean anyone?

Baz Auckland

Is that a holiday monday?

The 24th of June is on a Wednesday, so is it celebrated the weekend before, or the weekend after?

fluid_state
13:49 / 14.05.04
I don't think it's a holiday for us, Baz. Could be wrong, though.

I do mean to be horribly vague, here: June or July, Montreal, all good. A long weekend would be best, otherwise I have to go throught the torture of calling in sick to work. Although the bastards do owe me a day or three. I should be good to provide a ride for 3 people. Other than that, talk amongst yourselves.

Btw, if anyone wants to get together for a beer this weekend, PM me. I need to stay out of trouble at least one more weekend.

yeah, i'm moving to montreal and i'm looking to start a band. see my (redundant double)posting at top. there's got to be a lot of stuff happenig in montreal.

Shall we say the end of June then? (18th-20th or 25th-27th?) ...umm.. I think the latter is a holiday weekend for Les Quebecois... I'm off to Mexico for two weeks tomorrow, so I'll be back to the thread on June 1st...

Of course, again, this all depends on our lovely Montreal hosts....

solid_state: what do you think of driving up Friday morn, returning Sunday?

fluid_state
12:31 / 17.05.04
Baz, that's perfect. So long as we can leave Montreal very early or very late Sunday, it's all good. ( I work nights) And should our ,uh, intended hosts have a problem putting up a relative stranger or two, I know of cheap accomodation in a lovely, um, establishment. It seems they generally cater to ladies-of-the-night, but for 30 bucks a night, I tend to view it as colourful, and not, well, stanky. (Believe me, I was quite surprised when a pair of hookers followed me up the stairs, john in tow.)

Have fun in Mexico, man.

Well, I'm happy to welcome any and all 'lithers. Only snag is I'm not sure where I'll be living at that point, so this welcome may well be purely symbolic and not accomodation-oriented. But yeah, sounds good to me!

If there's anyone who needs accomodations May Tricks can provide enough to sleep 2-4 (more if people want to crash on the floor).

I'm probly gonna be back in Montreal next week for six weeks. So I should be able to make this. Huzzah!

So how does this sound:

Montreal Barbelith Meet
Date: June 25-26, 2004
Location: Montreal, PQ
Events and More Specific Locations: To be determined, but involving May's couch.

rising and revolving
18:52 / 02.06.04
Sounds perfect to me (given my recent relocation to Montreal) and I may, just may, be able to offer a couch in a pinch. No guarentees yet, as I'm not actually living in my permanent accomodation as yet. We'll see.

But the chance to get out and meet the Montreal crowd (and surrounding folks) would kick arse. Can't wait.

Just haunting this thread to confirm that yes, my sofa bed is available and quite possibly more. The date seems to be fine for me and what a bonus you can be here too Buk!

Please send me a PM if you need to contact me for info or sleeping quarters.

Cheers!

At least for the Torontonians, I think we're arriving Friday the 25th and leaving Sunday the 27th.

So meets are on for the 25th and 26th?

So... should we set a time and place for next Friday / Saturday? Anyone who wants to show me around during the day let me know! I want to see the city through a Montrealer's eyes!

Hi,
I haven't posted around here in a while, but I still read regularly. I'm in Montreal and I'd like to meet some of you guys. I don't mind showing some people around the city (though I'm not sure if I'm the best person to do that). Depends if you want to visit touristy things or just walk around the city and take in the sights and atmosphere. I'm good at walking around.
We should pick a place to meet on Friday night, I guess. How early are you guys arriving?
