I'm a-goin' to that there ol' Motherfucker Ball tonight. For those outside the loop, it's a bimonthly (among other things bi) roaming dance party. Tonight's edition, like the last, is at CentroFly (45 W. 21st St. b/t 5th & 6th Aves, 212-627-7770). (Mind you, I had my bag rifled through and a camera stolen there last time, goddammit.)

Apparently tonight's theme is general Xian blasphemy, it being Easter weekend for the Crossies, though I think they'd settle for general high or trash fashion (though they qualify that with "We mean it, fuckers!").

Website's motherfuckernyc.com; either printout the secret coupon behind the RHPS-type lips' teeth on the homepage or tear the ad out of the music section of this week's Village Voice to get in for $10, otherwise it'll be $15.

Despair not if you miss out this time around; they usually happen every couple months or so. If you do go, though, keep a lookout for me; once there (probably not until at least 1 am, if that) I'll probably be in the vicinity of the main DJ booth much of the time.

Just in case any NYClithers hadn't noticed, there's another Mofo happening this weekend, Sunday night at Spirit. It is recommended that if you want a freaky good time you attend. I will likely arrive late, leave late, flirt with the DJ, drink and, if I've drank enough, dance embarassingly. Beyond that, I make no promises. Again, cut the ad out of this week's Voice for a discount.

All right, just so I'm not posting this the day of again, the next Motherfucker Ball is Sunday, Sept. 5 at Roxy (515 W. 18th St.). Discount admission coupons can be downloaded off the site, or clipped from the Voice once they start running ads or, if you're lucky, found on postcards at sympathetic clubs in town. Apparently the show will include a performance at 11 pm by stellastarr*, which I've only heard a little of but liked what I heard, and the kids seem to dig them. There's also due to be some sort of Dead Kennedys giveaway, and some other discount for anyone coming from the Siouxsie Sioux show at BB King's (my sister's going, so I may scam her stub off her if she doesn't wish to come). Let's hope this time nothing impairs my ability to attend; I've not been to a Mofo in many moons.

Just bumping this back to the top so no one has an excuse for not seeing it. I just saw one of the organizers of MF tonite, so I'm primed for it. I have a sneaking suspicion that this one might be attended by Death Herself, Ms. Siouxsie Sioux, and/or hubby Budgie. No concrete eveidence to go on for that; just that a tucket stub from their show at BB King's earlier that evening is good towards a reduced admission. Seems like cross-promotion to me.

At this moment my planned ensemble will be an aqua blue tank top, a white short-sleeved button down shirt with blue detailing, blue camo pants, and possibly a white bandana and/or black buckle boots. It's also conceivable that I will be wearing multiple pendants, bracelets/charms and cheap stupid rings. There is also the chance I might be wearing some sort of makeup. I have short brown hair, long sideburns and a van Dyke. All of this is subject to change without notification. If I am not immediately recognizable, look for Caleigh; she's the only one I've met before that has said she's coming.

Caleigh...it looks like we've been to the same MFs! (those are the only two I've attended)

I WILL be there this evening, although most likely not until about 2 a.m., as I'm on a tight budget and will be getting steady for the evening a bit earlier (and on the cheap).

I'm afraid I don't stand out much, and intend to be dressed rather conservatively this evening. Look for the boy in the tight dark blue button down, grey knitted tie, black sta-prest, and wire rim specs, black hair...GREAT fucking dancer, and if there's a stage, I'm sure to find my way to the front of it during my fave tunes...

Had us a marvy time, we all did. Of course, for the most part we all did it independently and with little to no tandem presence, but whatever. I saw Caleigh, she saw me, BiaS punked out on us because of wardrobe malfunctions, and modlad... well, I sure as hell had no clue what to look for, so if I saw him and he saw me, it was with complete non-recognition.

I was dressed oddly punkish for my usual demeanor. Must be this new short haircut. I stayed til the end, and afterwards I departed with friends to a couple's apartment nearby, continued to drink and smoke until I passed out on the couch around 7 am, and woke up around 12:30. Then came home and slept another few hours.

Roxy was cool, but I think I prefer MF when it's in a space with multiple dance floors and a more accessible DJ booth. The next one, I believe, is at Spirit around Halloween. As I've never been to Spirit, I have no idea whether it meets my criteria. Again, whatever.

Spirit is fucking HUGE, and definitely has multiple rooms and multiple dancefloors.

I spent most of my time the other night in the upstairs area on the small dancefloor, but spent a solid hour on the main stage dancing out front....then was nearly felled by a shot of Jack Daniels' around last call and spent about 30 minutes meditating on how not to vomit.

I also stayed til the end...made it home around 7. I'm sure we'll run into each other eventually.

the first MF i went to was at spirit and there there 3 dance floors, i thought it was amazing space. i am a purist when it comes to halloween though and i don't do halloween parties on any night but the 31st. hmm...
