The Band That Never Was

This here thread is dedicated to all the bands that exist in your head; the bands you talk about when pissed; the bands who's entire career is mapped out in your head in a matter of minutes; bands that exist in a parallel universe.

The name of my current fictional band is 'Wreckin' Ball', and they are a horrible blues-rock hybrid, who generally play in pubs, bars and beer festivals. Their muscular take on the blues is sure to appeal to late thirties/mid forties gentlemen whose love of MOR is rivalled only by their love of driving and Jeremy Clarkson. The lead singer is a portly denim-clad rocker who looks like Pete Waterman and has a fondness for weak lager.

Let's see who else is top of the pops shall we.

Lots of good stuff in this vein in this Creation thread.

For what it's worth, I still hear Soldier's Joy in my head all the time, and a slightly-rejiggered version of the band looms large in a story currently in the planning stages...

Oh man, as ever I've got so many of these it's slightly worrying..

I'm currently obsessed with the idea of starting a band called WITCH HONEY.. I'm not sure yet what they'd sound like (though at a guess, ROCK), but it's just such an amazing name.. it has to happen, but it just wouldn't suit the band I'm currently in the process of being in in real life..

I did several episodes of a comic strip about a band called LOG-JAM, who were shambolic student types in the vein of the Young Ones..

I also did a slightly more serious short comic featuring a punk band called GUNBOAT DIPLOMACY, which I'll hopefully get 'round to printing sometime soon..

Oh, and then there's my constantly on the verge of being started black metal 'project'.. I started off thinking GOATWHORE would be the perfect name, but it's already been taken, as have GOATWOUND and GOATLORD. I briefly considered GODDESS OF SODOMY, but currently I think I'm going to have to go with the mighty PRENATAL LYCANTHROPY.

One of those names might also end up being used for a comic I'm thinking of doing about the misadventures of a teenage heavy metal band.

A bit of a firghtening glimpse into the working of my mind for you all there anyway..

I always get these Malcolm Maclaren throw together a band ideas. Like I wanted to do that super conservative punk rock band just to confuse and piss off people.

And I wanted to invent Homo-Core. It would be a tough as nails street hardcore band like Madball or Agnostic Front but would have tons of militant gay lyrics because I think that's really missing in hardcore music. And I find that hardcore music (along with some rap and reggae i guess) and the fans are a bit more homophobic than a lot of other music fans. (when i say hardcore i don't really mean punk rock which isn't as homophobic, but that cookie monster vocal son of punk rock with the breakdowns and stuff)

Friend o' mine invented a gay rap crew consisting of Daddy Peaches, Lemon Fancy and Leather Persuasions.

And I wanted to invent Homo-Core.

Um.. doesn't it already exist?

Not that I'm really mr. hardcore expert, but I remember reading loads of stuff about homo-core bands in Punk Planet and stuff..

See, I think you're talking about your straight ahead punk rock bands with a semi normal vocalist and that punk rock sound. I'm talking the growly breakdown hardcore scene.

Loads of early 70's hard-rock combos! Gimlet!, Big toe!, Vest!, Ginger Tom!, Hackensack! one of those is genuine!

Also classic, obscure '67 psyche from the Bronze age treasure horde with their classic "The Secret Garden of Elias Phim".

Today's band - Late 60's whimsical prog-folk hippies 'BABY DRAGON' who, after all the original members died or fried themselves with drugs, transmogrified into 'BLACK HOLE' in the 70's, a much heavier but equally proggy affair.
