I have a date and I'm drunk and there's nothing to do to kill time but post here, and also I have a fair amount of anxiety about whether it's a date-date or a friend-date. And I need to sobre up first! Fucking hell.

Again too late, but perhaps a small white lie about one of your friends having had some good news, promotion at the office, that type of thing. So they DRAGGED you out, basically, to help them celebrate, you couldn't really say no. So you're a) loyal to your friends, b) not habitually given to being smashed at 4pm, it's a special occasion, and c) someone who generally hangs out with winners. I mean it works for the government - Positive spin !

So... How did it go?

Yes, tell us. How did it go? Was it a success? Can i assume then that I too can go on all future dates drunk out of my mind? (which is great for later on: "What? Well ofcourse I didn't call you like I said I would. I dont even remember who YOU are!")

I wasn't drunk 'out of my mind', thank you very much, although the first thing my date said was, 'You smell like wine' (dispelling any lingering thought of denying it). Anyway, it turned out not to matter because it had failed to occur to me to check, before we went out, whether or not my date was already in a relationship. And she was.
