For those of you who haven't heard about it...

That first post didn't sound very enthusiastic. Here's a blurb from the site about the march:

We are Marching for Women's Lives to demand political and social justice for women and girls regardless of their age, race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, economic status, sexual orientation or ability. This March is for young and older women, straight women and lesbians, sons and fathers, able and disabled, rich and poor—to stand side by side in a show of unity and determination.

We are prepared to protect our right to abortion, birth control and all reproductive health services, as well as our right to have children and plan our own families without government interference. We will never go back to the days before Roe v. Wade when women died from illegal abortions.

Marches can make a difference. The March for Women's Lives will be a galvanizing event at a critical time in our nation. This may be the day we all look back on and say, "That's when we turned the corner toward winning full reproductive rights for all women."

C'mon, everybody! It'll be fun!

Thank you for bringing this subject up and my head is still spinning from the announcement of the signing of the bill. I live in the southern portion of the United Corporations of America and I am organizing a caravan to attend this event. Signing a bill like this so close to election tells me the Bush regime is confident in it's ability to infect our country with its inhumane disease for another four, horror filled years. I for one will be taking a bullet proof vest and a sport cup.

Although I'm VERY LIBERAL and a VERY PESSIMISTIC AGNOSTIC, I'm pro-life. I believe that life "begins" at the exact moment the fertilized egg splits into two cells. I therefore will not be attending the march. (although you'd never catch me at a pro-life rally - damn conserative christians!)

I'm going to be there. some ladies I know are planning on bussing it, so that's likely how I'll be getting there.

my cousin is joining me, and I'm trying to talk my mom into it (I doubt she will, though she's for the cause, she's a bit of a wussypants).

I assume you're joking... Right?

I've been wondering whether it's going to be all peaceful and happy or not, but figured that I was just being paranoid since I've never been to any kind of large political gathering in the States before. Is anyone expecting it not to be?

I don't expect it NOT to be - however, I will not be bringing my daughter, and not only because I worry she will tire.

Just keep your eyes open and look around you and you shouldn't walk right in to any trouble and should also be able to walk out of it. I think in the UK the main thing to do is watch the police since they often incite aggression (I don't know if the US is the same) and take some chocolate with you in case you get stuck somewhere. Mostly though have fun, if I was over there I'd definitely go along, it sounds like it's going to be a really good day, feel the jealousy!

Wish I could join you all but I think Scotland to DC is a bit of a commute. Good luck sisters

It sounds a bit too nice to have trouble but it depends what you think trouble is really. I always get locked in at these things (though last time it was almost with a Samba band and that would have been nice) but that's not trouble as much as irritating.
