Just got this in an email. I've never seen Rainbow, but there are plenty of similar programs about, so I get the idea. Some clever dudes got at some old footage of the show and dubbed themselves a bit of fun.

I can't get this to work, but assuming it's the thing about 'plucking all day' and 'bouncing your balls', it was a real bit of the show... taken from one of their out-take reels, mind. Slightly fibbingly, Victor Lewis-Smith showed it as part of his UK TV Show 'TV Offal', claiming it was part of the pilot.
But it might be something entirely different. Wouldn't be the first time my computer's inadequacies have made me say things that were miles off the mark. Or my brain's inadequacies, come to that.

Gosh, no, it is the same thing, or at least does fit your description. It might be a flash issue. If your computer doesn't have flash, that might be the problem.

It is real footage.

It's not, however, from broadcast. Basically, shows often used to put together gag reels at, basically, as a laugh - you know, show it at the Rainbow christmas party or something. So it was filmed by the cast/crew for private consumption. Victor L-S found a copy, and it ended up on TV Offal.

It's funny, but it was meant to be. I forget where I found this info about it, but there you go. VLS has used quite a few of these christmas/gag-tapes in his shows.

(On a side note: I miss TV Offal. A lot.)
