Vision quest

I have an inclination to embark on a traditional native american vision quest (more specifically in the style of the Sioux), but am concerned about the logistics of the experience. Anyone here undertaken one, or known someone who has, and if so, what are your thoughts?

First of all, be sure you want to do this. Each vision quest will require and challenge more of you more than the last. The first thing you need is a block of time exempt from the responsibilities of normal life. If you cannot create this in your life a vision quest is not important to you at this time so do not worry about it.

If you cannot attend a sweat lodge just previous to your departue on the quest, or go to a sauna and lose your toxins first.
Have a pipe or musical instrument
Prepare yourself with simple ways to protect yourself from the elements.[you must have a bed] if it is cold bring a blanket.
If it is hot bring lightweight clothes.
Pray to the 4 compass points in your own language with your thoughts.
Lay your instrument or pipe at the west point.
You will not eat or drink from this point on until the vision quest is ended.
Bring a first aid kit and make sure you study it before you keave.
Become one with the enviroment.
Meditate.
Use your spiritual instrument or pipe once a day at least, when the sun sets, is great.
Love the solitude.
In time lose your clothing [you will want to because of its ties to ego]
Continue until you are done, and you will know it.
Most vision quests only last 24 hours, with 4 days and 4 nights generaqlly to be the max.
Our hope is upon you, whatever you do.
