Hello. I was recommended here from an online friend, and after about 10 minutes of looking around I kind of like the place. Nice design, nice people, nice forum. So I took the liberty of signing up as a member. Though I well spend much time lurking for awhile in order to get the gist of things for now, I will begin to post and reply more often later once I've seen the gears and levers of this whole place. I've started reading some of the forum rules, but if there is anything more that should be explained, or some unsaid rules, or general advice, please reply here so that I may take it in and not make a fool of myself if I haven't already done so.

I will post my email address here: lukas@miller.sasktel@net in case anyone desires to contact me in private for some reason pertaining to my coming to this forum. In closing, I look forward to some interesting and fun times ahead. (Replace @'s with . and . with @)

Oh, and how about a little self-description.

I'm just finishing up my first year of university at the University of Regina in Regina, SK, Canada. I'm a bachelor of music student majoring in music history. I play the trombone by the way (and I have experience in percussion instruments as well). In the long run, I plan to acquire a masters degree in ethnomusicology most likely at UBC. I'm interested in anthropology, music (duh), fine arts, history, astronomy, religion and sociology. Getting to even more specifics, I'm an athiest, a straight male, I love PC gaming, I love camping and hiking, and I tend to be a conservative and quiet person... I think I'll just leave it at that for now before I start rambling on even more about my ever-so-boring self. I'm sure I'll get to know some people here over time.

Unsaid rules?

Don't feed the Haus, never get between most of the members and pie if you value your life and you can never go wrong with an obscure reference to diaries written by 14th Century monks.

Hi klockwerk. Glad to meet you. Make yourself at home and join in when it suits. There is one important question you should answer though.... Pirate or Ninja?

I know it's a longshot Klockwerk, but being as you are a trombonist do you know where I can find a vocal version of 'Peg o' my Heart' by Jack Teagarden?

Hello Klockwerk.

How do you like your pie? One large pie or many smaller pies?

Yay, this is really cool because you're doing exactly what everyone has been moaning should happen. You've joined and your reading the FAQ's and seeing how the place works before getting really involved.

Hello to you Klockwerk and I second Ariadne.

So...since I'm the one who showed him the board, all new members should be people who I send to Barbelith?

Power....

Yes...

...oh the sweet, sweet smell of the ocean burning...

* vague reverie as "Lili Marlene" plays and waves rhythmically lap against the STEEL HULL *

Oh *ahem* sorry.

Wilkommen.

I presume you have experience in loading Torpedoes, ja?

Kamikaze dwarfs or hedgehogs

That's easy... ever since I first played Sonic the Hedgehog in SEGA devices, I've come to hate them. Though they may be cute and fun to watch, the kamikaze dwarves are just far too cool.

Now put those up against a kamikaze watermelon and you've got yourself a fight!

Ninjas or pirates...

Hmm, Johnny Depp is one of my favourite actors, but those ninjas are MAMMALS FOR GODS SAKE! I'll side with ninjas... for now.

Cash Jackson - I don't think I could help you there. Sorry.

The only card Solitaire Rose needs is the Ace of Spades! - Wow, that nickname sure beats your other one. I would have never recognized it was you.

I'll soon fix this.

Hola, son! Careful on the anti-hedgehog tip though. And using a dislike for SEGA game as a reason? Good thing we're not in the same neighborhood. Unless you do some backpedaling in the roaming game thread, that is.

And, you might want to edit the post with your email addy as such:

lukas.miller (at) sasktel dot net

before the spam bots come around and tantalize you with viagra and larger breasts...

yeah. What SHe said.
Don't diss hedgehogs.

And be a bit careful with your email addy... (that can cause all manner of bad shenanigans...)

Other than that (plus all the pie-related malarkey you've been harangued with)

welcome.

I may seem like I'm taking the piss, but I'm actually more genuine than I sound. Hello, nice to meet you, and it'll be cool.

Ah, about Sonic the Hedgehog.

Sorry for the misinterpretation. I appreciate the game, I appreciate SEGA and any game developers out there can have my respect; but Bog help me, I don't [didn't] like playing that game at all. As for what I play now, I'm more into RPG's and FPS PC games.

Oh, and thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and advice. I appreciate all of it.

What Ariadne said.

And also, you are far too polite for this seething hellhole of damaged souls and elitist powder puffs. Newbies are supposed to moan about how horrible we are so we can flame right back. You will never succeed with your cunning "niceness" plan. Except on the huggles threads and when everybody else is drunk and sentimental on the Late Shift.

Accordingly, it was wise to namecheck Solitaire Rose because we fear his choke slam, so now we'll have to try and be nice.

Shit, you are indeed cunning, Sir!

Didn't William Shatner come from Saskatchewan? A waiter in Pizza Express told me that once.

Yeah Shatner is ours..you westeners cant have him! Ok, you can have the TekWar and StarTrek Generations Shatners. But we're keeping the Orig. Series, Free Enterprise, The Practice (and its spin-off show) and All-Bran Commercials Shatner. (We can timeshare the Big GIant Head Shatner)

Damn. I'm boycotting Pizza Express from this moment on. Can anyone recommend a good pizza joint where the waiters are not duplicitous, deluded bastards?

And they'll be getting no more blowjobs from me, either. Shame, the flavour of anchovies had a good smack to it.
