As Krypton collapses, Jor-El prepares to release the two rockets he has built for his sons Kal-El and Nij-El.
Jor-El: There my love, it is done. I have set the controls for the planet... Earth.
Lara-El:But why seperate rockets, my love?
Jor-El: To increase the odds that one of them make it there alive! The Earth's yellow sun will give them both extraordinary powers of strength, spped, and flight, except Nij-El threw up on my new tunic, so I've injected him with a serum that will suppress his powers until he reaches his mid-thirties.
Lara-El: Um...
Jor-El: No time for explanations! I'll set Clark, I mean Kal's rocket to land in a Kansas cornfield, and set Nij's to land in the alley outside a metropolitan hospital, where he will be fired through the window into a bassinet!
Lara-El: Oh, OK.
