Did I just say sweet? Ignore that. I've recently been introduced to the wonderful Home Movies. Is anyone else here watching this and loving it? I read somewhere that it only has around 200,000 viewers. That's like comic book numbers. I'm not sure it's even cult status.

There's much goodness to this show, from the improv, ad-libbed acting style to the kids-trying-to-be-adults premise to the refreshing relationships between every possible pairing of the core characters (apart from Jason and Coach, 'cos they're acted by the same guy, and thus the improv-ish style wouldn't work) that seemed well developed even from the beginning.

Basically, I'm plugging it. It's gonna go and I'll be sorry to lose it. Fortunately there have been four great seasons of this stuff to enjoy.

Over to you.

Always loved Home Movies. Strangely I preferred the non-wobbly second series. Ever see the classic 'Star Boy and The Captain Of Outer Space' episode? That's all gold. Mr. Pants, The trip to the hot-dog factory, both versions of the compliment song...
"You look great in that shirt, now help me hem my brand new skirt. You've got very nice cheek bones, now help me co-sign this bank loan..."

There's loads I haven't seen but plan to catch up on. I've seen all of the third series and a few other random episodes. Will get round to it soon, I hope. Such a great show.

Better still, the guy who voices Jason/Coach appears as a guest voice on the equally brilliant Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

I've only seen the first run, started watching them while waiting for Reign: The Conquerer to come on, and got to really liking it. Its smartly messed up.

Liking Aqua Teen Hunger Force (not sure how to compare it to Home Movies) also, but haven't given it as much of a chance. I'll try and check out some more episodes.

I've been enjoying Home Movies for a while now. I loved the guitar solo contest episode. What's his name, the stoner looking guitar player...anyway, there's a scene where he's with his guitar teacher and the guitar teacher tells him to tell a joke with his guitar.

Teacher: Make it tell a joke.

kid: (plays short riff)

Teacher: Who's there?

kid: (plays short riff)

Teacher: (laughs) I love that one.

kid: It's a dirty one.

Teacher: make it sound like my cat.

kid: (plays short riff)

Teacher: no, the smaller one. With the stripe.

I've seen guitar players do things like this with their teachers. It's weird.

I'm so glad there are other people out there who like Home Movies. What's this I here about it going? Why is it every time I discover something great it ends up getting cancelled on me? I never even got to watch ONE episode of Invader Zim. THE MINUTE we finally got cable those bastards at Nickelodeon cancelled it. The pricks.
AND BRING BACK THE BRAK SHOW ALREADY!!!!

i love the commercial for Home Movies with Coach McGurk, talking about his goals in life.

"... and I want to learn Japanese, because I was at this sushi place, and there was this complete jerk there, obviously American, and he was ordering in Japanese, and I thought 'I want to do that.'"

that just kills me.

What exactly is the plot/concept of Aqua Teen Hunger Force? All I know is that it's fast food with faces and lots of people love this show. Why "aqua"? What do they do? What sorts of adventures do they have? What makes the show great? I've heard lots of people rave about this show but I have no idea what it's like. Thanks!

My favorite coach McGurk quote,

McGurk: "Just kick it! Kick the ball! If you don't get out there and kick that ball right now, I'm gonna break your legs!"
Jason: "Um, coach, the parents are here."
McGurk: "That's alright kids, just have fun. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, all that's important is that you tried."

So what is Aqua Teen Hunger Force? Or should I start a new thread to ask the question to make it clear, since "Home Movies" could refer to just about anything?

The wonders of Adult Swim are finally mine since the nice cable cronies decided to forego the TV filter when installing my net connection. Can I just say that Aqua Teen Hunger Force is quite likely the best show on the tube. I haven't looked forward to midnight during the week as much as I do now.
