Religious topics in the Head Shop...

This is a bit of an interruption from your daily routine, I know, but I just thought that I should invite comments on the thread in the Policy at the moment on religious topics in the Head Shop. It has always been the case that the Magick has been ostensibly there for Chaos Magick, mysticism AND religious threads, but the latter stuff doesn't actually seem to happen in here very much. I guess the question we're asking is should it? Does the Magick need refocusing? Does the Head Shop?

Well, the definition is "Religion, mysticism, neo-paganism and Chaos Magick...", so I guess it should go under Magick.. but are you thinking of a redefinition?

Isn't it a perspective thing? Objective Head Shop between Subjective Magick. I know there's a lot of bleeding even in that, but that's been MY rule of thumb.

As soon as I get online at home I will be all over those threads like a cheap suit, I assure you.

Objective Head Shop between Subjective Magick

oof. I'll fight anyone who reckons the Head Shop is about Objectivity.

ahem. What I mean is, I don't think it's nearly that simple, the HS is 'about' analysis/theory, perhaps, which ain't the same thing.

I tend to only lurk in the headshop (I fear that my tender toes might end up as a bloody pulp...) but it might be interesting to see why those threads started there rather than in this cozy little ghetto...

reckon(as a lurker/pulp-fearer in here) because this looks like an esoteric forum, and some people don't connect Christianity with that, but with overarching philosophical concerns? or because they want their topic to be given the HeadShop treatment/reception (though, this doesn't seem to be the case.)

Problem solved it seems..

I tend to regard the Head Shop as being more philosophy-oriented, including the philosophy of religions. The Magick is more about direct experience and gnosis and the theories that arise from those experiences.

If someone wanted to discuss a vision of Christ they had in church, the Magick would be the place. If they want to dissect canonical interpretations of free will and divinity, they'd probably be better off doing it in the Head Shop.

Now, if they want to debate whether or not Jesus could microwave a burrito so hot that he himself could not eat it...
