Appeal for new moderators

I need some new moderators for the following fora. The role of the moderators is something that isn't particularly glamourous, nor particularly complicated. It's more of a janatorial role that is about keeping the place tidy and fixing problems with the code in people's posts every so often. However it is a good way to make a little difference and make the community function a little more effectively. On the whole, I'd like to give these roles to people who have a particular vested interest in their part of the board (and who will see problems as they crop up), are likely to visit the board no less frequently than once every couple of days (even if only fleetingly) and who have been around for a while so that everyone knows and trusts them. People can be moderators of multiple fora, but I'd like to get at least some new blood into the moderating system. Perhaps you've been moderating a quiet forum and fancy a bit more of a challenge (warning - almost all moderation duties are minimal, swift and efficient!)

Policy & Help - three new moderators required. Long-time members only please as this is the part of the board that has to be absolutely not fucked around with.

Head Shop - two new moderators required. Very trusted people of long-standing on the board only please, because this one I'm going to be merciless about as it's my favourite.

Books - four new moderators required. Love of books important, but also volume of book-reading probably an issue. Also important is good spelling. English graduates particularly applauded!

Comics - two new moderators required. It's particularly important in this forum that you know (or are prepared to find out) how to resize images in HTML and fix broken image code.

Film, TV & Theatre - three new moderators required - a mix of UK and US people would be good for this one, and people who are sensitive to the different needs of the two audiences (ie. who will write clear titles warning people whether it's US or UK suitable / spoilers etc).

Music - four new moderators please! Love of music of all kinds, the ability to write good summaries and clear titles also significant.

Gathering - six new moderators required for this pretty unglamourous, but also extremely low maintenance part of the board. A great place to learn your craft!

Creation - four new moderators required. Must actually spend a decent amount of the time on that specific part of the board and be prepared to spend a lot of time sorting out thread summaries, as apparently this seems to be completely beyond most creative types.

Please volunteer below, stating your user NUMBER and the NUMBER of the forum that you'd like the be moderating. Thank you!

Oh and if you don't know how to find your user number, an easy way is to go to your profile and look in the address of the page in your web browser. It'll be the number after "profile/"

Haus, you're SUCH a long-timer that you're practically a lifer. I have no problem putting you on Books as well if you think you can give it enough attention. Are there any fora that you're doing at the moment that you'd rather not be?

10:34 / 25.03.04
Right I'd done all of you lot then. Anyone else?

I'll do gathering, if you'll have me:

user #520 for forum #14

Whisky Priestess
11:08 / 25.03.04
User #107 reporting for duty sah!

Would love to serve queen and board on the front-line of Forum 9 (books, I hope). Proper grammar, wide reading (especially in bad science fiction) and an uncloseted anal spelling fascist.

Have broadband, will nitpick, in short.

Tryphena Absent

User 882 I'll happily help out with 4 and 11 or just one of them.

Ex
11:22 / 25.03.04
User 1451 displaying Eng Lit degree scroll and volunteering for forum 9.

I'd also love to volunteer for the Head Shop but not sure I'm qualifying on the "longstanding and trustworthy" front. I've been here for a year and a half and I'm frankly shifty-looking.

The Strobe

Bed Head
12:01 / 25.03.04
Member number 2724, is more than a little new, but is happy to volunteer to help any way he can. #14 preferred because I’m a bit slow on the take-up; 8, or 11 or if one of the big kids will hold my hand.

Although I’ve only been around for about 4 months, and so I’m not really in a position to moderate anybody; so if you want to overlook me this time around, well, that’s cool too.

12:58 / 25.03.04

Right then! We're basically done. There are a couple of spots left around the place so if you think you have the guts for the job still ping me via a private message and if I can fit you in somewhere, I will do so...
