hey i just directed my first music video -- its a tie-in to the Hellboy movie, with lots of footage etc., but also half of it is concept i shot which -- hopefully -- is cool and funny. it was my first time directing 35mm and i'm totally psyched at how it turned out. anyway, enjoy it. it's here.

Did you enjoy the process of making the video? Nice intergration of your concept and the film footage, did they give you footage you had to use or did you pick and choose?

yeah man i TOTALLY enjoyed doing it -- i didn't sleep for two straight weeks but it was a blast. the secret is, i had an amazing crew -- the cinemetographer had just done a marylin manson video directed by asia argento, and everyone who worked hustled like hell and got us everything we needed. the whole thing came in at $10,000, which no one could believe. the actor -- who played "cheddar bob" in 8 Mile, was a total psycho genius.

as for the film footage: they gave me the several trailers and longer form promotional spots full of footage, and i ran with what was there.

i'm so glad you guys dig it!

The cinematography and the editing are lovely. Would you believe I thought John C Reily played Cheddar Bob, I just had to go to IMDB to double check. I'm quite pleased it wasn't Reily as this mean he wasn't stalking me through the medium of film a little while back (it seemed every film I went to see he was in). Eerie.

Bloody Great! Loved it! I will never be able to use red paint on somebody without thinking of that video. However the band sounds too much like Tool for my tastes, but that's not your fault.

the labe and the studio both really liked how this turned out, so i'm trying to push forward and do bigger, better videos... we'll see what happens...

apparently Guillermo Del Toro said it was funny as hell, and he was target audience number 1 --
