That last image is like a mix of Chris Sprouse, Cameron Stewart, Hernandez Bros, Mike Allred, and the Bruce Timm aesthetic. I adore it - I'd love to see Frank try some more projects in that style.

But mostly Chris Sprouse.

Sprouse is so underrated. Is he still stuck working on Alan Moore comics?

He didn't do anything on the latest Tom Strong (well, other than the cover), if that means anything.

(Off-topic, as much as I've really enjoyed Tom Strong, it's turned to completely uninteresting shit since Moore quit scripting it. All the spark it once held has disappeared entirely.)

I need to dig out those issues of the Megazine that had Quitely's introductory(?) Missionary Man series in. The black outlines around characters were ridiculously pronounced compared to his later stuff - panels looked like they were populated by cardboard cutouts.

That last cover is quite Sprousian, yes, but I really can't see it being a Quitely cover. Aside from the obvious stylistic differences, it's not signed (and I don't recall ever seeing an unsigned Q Cover), and it also bears no resemblance to the ongoing theme of the other three covers, or any of Frank's trademark sense of composition. Looks like a fill in job to me.

[Rot] Sprouse is still stuck on Strong, but you can always find his legendary run on Legionnaires in your local quarter bin. I love those issues. I remember how psyched I was when the first issue came out and it had, like, everyone on the cover. Yay, Chris Sprouse[/Rot]

Legionnaires was sooooo great. Oh man. I wish I still had all of those issues.

I really can't see it being a Quitely cover.

Now that I've had a look, I think that's probably a one-page panel by the series artist, David Hahn, *not* Quitely. For proof, check the square ears:

The DC solicits may have lied to me. I did double-check.

The Marvel ones do it all the time. Sneaky fucks.

yup, the ear thing is a dead giveaway, why does he do that? its pretty twisted I think.

Does anyone else think Bite Club is a reeeeally shit name. It kind of suggests how piss-poor and token the comic is(was).

Will be?

That Fables cover is by James Jean, it's been miscredited to Quitely.

My cover to the Batman 12-Cent Adventure is also miscredited to Jason Pearson. What the hell is going on over there?

Your 12-cent Bats cover is terrific, BTW, Cameron.

And that new LIFE DURING WARTIME cover is fantastic.

That Fables cover is by James Jean, it's been miscredited to Quitely.

*sigh*

I did notice there was no signature, and I know Jean does the covers normally, but I thought that looked like painted FQ. Nivir mind.

I love that no-one's talking about the piece of shit Chaykin cover in a thread dedicated to it. Someone should let him know how little we care.

Re: Books Of Magic Cover

HOW. DOES. HE. DO. THAT.

My poor keppie is melting. Oh how I wish everyone in Times Square just stood around like Quitely drew them.

*BUMP*

Well, now that Bite Club is concluded, what can I say about it but...

um...

er...

the covers were nice? God, what the hell were they thinking with this series, and why the hell am I such a sucker that I stuck it out all the way through it? "Let's see here, we've got a background of a Miami crime family composed of vampires! And these vampires can be out during the day! Being a vampire is well-known and at least vaguely trendy! Where do we want to go with this?" "Aah, let's just have them killin' and screwin' each other." "Cool!"

Indeed. Miami Vice + The Sopranos + vampires = gorgeous Quitely covers and not a lot else.

In other random Quitely art news, he does a single page in Bendis' upcoming DD #65 (full-page splash of DD fighting ninjas). Saw the preview and it looks nice, though not as mind-blowing as Quitely usually does. It's much more maintstream superhero.

I think I can wrap this up neatly...

Bite Club sucked -

But Quitely is God.
