For the record, here and here are two of the essays in which Bey suggests magickal attack on institutions (the first is tactical, while the second descibes a particular "occult action").
I have to say that I don't quite agree with Hunterwolf's concerns about increasing the sum total of ill will -- there is a vast difference between the quiet desperation and resentment of a populace that remains silent in the face of environmental and cultural devastation (by the state and corporations alike) and the indignation and rage of those who choose to fight back. It is a judgement call of the individual, I suppose, which they believe is more "ill."
Given choice of targets, I would suggest that there are tactically more important corporations that are far less visible than nike and the gap, etc. The military-industrial-information-media complex is immense and varied, and it might take some serious research to chose where to lay on the curses, but it might be more worthwhile in the longrun. Think, for example, about the rapidly expanding "Time Management" industry -- you may not see their logos on t-shirts, but they are a pernicious and anti-human force in the workplace, and their influence is growing. This is not to say that one shouldn't take on companies like nike, but that the "magickal activist" needs to consider also what goes on behind the scenes.
As I mentioned in another current thread, one might also do well to consider GM's work with "Corporate Egregori," the spirits (or "energetic entities" or whatever) that arise from and may act to protect corporations under attack. I don't believe that they ought to completely deter magickal attack, but they should be taken into account when one plans action (especially regarding defense against "backlash" attacks).
Yeah, welcome to Barbelith. I'm glad you brought this up (since otherwise I would've had to -- on a related note I'm getting my thoughts together for a similar post about magickal eco-defense).
