Is this what I think it is? [re: Invisibles]

Surely this can't be the adaptation of our beloved comic series?

"Turbulent lifestyles clash in this edgy romance. Jude (Michael Goorjian) flees to the Parisian flat of Joy (Portia de Rossi). Here they attempt to detox in the world's most romantic holding tank where games are played and the appetite for sex is rivaled only by the appetite for Pop Tarts. THE INVISIBLES is haunted by a Beatles spirit, as evidenced in the male protagonist's first name and through a visit by a fictitious version of John Lennon." - synopsis found on rottentomatoes.com

I dismissed it at first but then noticed the "fictitous version of Lennon" bit. Does anyone have more information on this? Anyone seen it? If it is, what is with the major plot changes?

Who says they can't use 'The Invisibles'? Other films have had the same title, if this doesn't make it big, in the States, then another film could use that title.

hahahaha...

I saw this movie a while ago all excited to create a post titles I saw THE INVISIBLES Movie!!!

But you know... after seeing it I really couldn't bother.

it's shot in Black & White and seems to be a series of improv scenes. The story is as follows:
Young American Rockstar has gon too far over the edge in his abuse of drugs and is pretty much thrown into some mod flat somewhere n Paris, to dry up. At the same time a lovely "super model" has turned up at the sme flat to do the very same thing. it truns out the flat belongs to friends of hers; the two of them go through the aches of heroin Withdrawl together while having various arguements, tarintinoesque diatribes on whatever, and sex.
They are befriended by the local Pizza delivery guy who opts not to turn the Rock Star in and collect the reward being offered by his record label. Instead he brings them food and provisions while they slowly get over their drug addiction. They fall in love and the rock star calls in the rewards in his romate's name allowing her to collect the money and return to a normal life at home. Time passes and she comes accross the rockstar's latest album whihc is basicly a tribute to their time together.

The title seems to be drawn from a chapter (the film is broken up into various "chapters" by black screen with white text ala Pulp Fiction and countless others) titled Les Invisibles and seemed to be in reference to how fame makes a person invisible as people only see the mask of fame rather than the real person. Like most of the rants contaned with-in, it was mostly incoherent.

The closest this film came to the comic was a brief visionary appearance by the ghost of John Lennon.

Still, the title and the appearance of John Lennon in a vision does seem to indicate that this isn't a coincidence.

While it's certainly NOT profound... it's an entertaining movie...

John Lennon, you say? Sounds like this film is definitely inspired by Grant Morrison. After all, The Beatles had really fallen into obscurity before Morrison brought them to popular attention again in his comics.

SOMEONE FUCKING SHOOT ME NOW OH GOD PLEASE MAKE IT STOP

Just to confirm what Our Lady of Flowers said, you can't own a title. You could make a film called Gone with the Wind if you wanted.

Yup the law explicitly states that you can't copyright a title.

Calm Down People. This is just the sort of Invisibles film we need. Nothing to do with the comic, apart from vague illusions, and by the looks of it, appalingly bad. Could it be that these people have been visited in their dreams with the title idea? Bring on the sequel. Great Picture of Fanny on the poster though...

Out of curiousity:

Was the Invisibles ever turned into the BBC series we were promised? I have read the scripts but have yet to see the finished work.

Nope. It's the BBC way of things, it seems - buy the rights to a series, then forget all about it. Ripper, anybody?
